The mugdhā is the artless heroine. Her age is young and her desire is newly awakened. In lovemaking she holds back and resists. And she does whatever her girlfriends do, leaning on them.
mugdhā is the first of the three heroine-types graded by love-experience: mugdhā (naive), madhyā (middling), and pragalbhā (bold, fully seasoned). The following lines lay out her marks.

Same point again, now for desire. Even where desire is fresh, bold behavior can show. In the Vidagdha-mādhava the heroine says: out of anger she bit her own lip, and he keeps rolling at her feet. Biting the lip in anger is a bold gesture, not a naive one.
Why cited: Cited to show that even when kāma is fresh, boldness (the lip-biting anger of a more seasoned heroine) can appear — so "fresh desire" cannot be a strict criterion for the mugdhā, only a pointer to slight love-skill.
