This is the example of the forbearing heroine (dhairya-śālinī) — the lead-in calls her that. Watch the provocations pile up. First blow: her own hot-tempered husband, the master of the house, threatens and scolds her. His mind has been poisoned against her by the scheming Padmā.
The lead-in atha dhairya-śālinī ('now, the steadfast one') marks Rādhā here as the model of dhairya — patient endurance under provocation.

And here is the point — look at Rādhā. Through all three provocations she does not react. Supremely patient, she simply stays silent. That silent endurance under attack is the dhairya, the steadiness, this verse holds up for us.

padmayā — by Padmā; tan-nāmnyā — a woman of that very name; pratipakṣāyamāṇa-candrāvalī-sakhyā — a companion of Candrāvalī who takes the rival's side.
Jīva identifies Padmā: 'Padmā' is her actual name, and she belongs to Candrāvalī's camp — she acts as Rādhā's rival. So her poisoning of the husband is factional scheming, not a random quarrel.

On 'by a monkey': Jīva says read it as a monkey that had been trained — set up beforehand to snatch things. The theft was arranged, not the accident of a stray animal.

And Śaivyā, Jīva adds, is to be read exactly like Padmā — another gopī of the rival (Candrāvalī) faction. So two of the three provocations trace back to the same hostile camp.

Jīva records a variant reading. Instead of 'given by Hari… by a monkey,' one text reads 'placed by the beloved… by a boy' — the sister-in-law has the necklace stolen by a child, and the child is the one Śaivyā puts up to it. Jīva only reports the alternate reading; he does not choose between them.
A suspended pāṭhāntara (second manuscript reading). Leave it unresolved — do not decide for the monkey reading over the boy reading; Jīva simply logs it and moves on.

Jīva glosses the words. The mallī is the creeper in that garden grove, and its flowers are the ones the beloved Kṛṣṇa longs for. On 'husband' (bhartā) he means Abhimanyu — who only imagines himself Rādhā's husband and does nothing more than provide her upkeep.
Jīva drives the wedge Gauḍīya poetics loves: priya (Kṛṣṇa, the true beloved) versus bhartā (Abhimanyu, husband in name and maintenance only).

The scene of the quoted verse: when the rāsa dance was over, Rādhā's own friend repeats to her the cutting, sarcastic words the rival gopīs had spoken. Hearing them, Rādhā only laughs — and answers. Her reply begins here and runs into the next line.
Why cited: Quoted to show Rādhā meeting the rivals' taunts with a smile rather than anger — the same forbearance the mūla praises.

This completes Rādhā's smiling reply from the quoted verse: the rivals may harbor envy, but 'those' — read as her own side — are not of that sort. Even the retort is gracious, not cutting. That gentleness under provocation is why Jīva adduces the verse.

Why cited: Completes the quoted parallel — Rādhā's mild, ungrudging answer, matching the mūla's forbearance.

Viśvanātha stages the whole scene behind 'by a monkey.' The sister-in-law trained a monkey, bribing it: 'Hey monkey — I'll give you a belly-full of sweets. When she opens her jewel-casket in private and looks at the necklace, you slip in unseen, grab it, and drop it in my hand.' That is how the necklace Kṛṣṇa gave Rādhā gets carried off — through a coached monkey.
This matches Jīva's brief note (c1.s2) that the monkey was 'made to take'; Viśvanātha spells out the bribe and the instruction. Both make the theft deliberate, not accidental.

lumpati[which] tears up [the creeper] verbनष्ट करती है, तोड़ती है
varkaraḥ taruṇaḥ paśuḥ iti abhidhānāt — because the dictionary gives 'varkara = a young animal'; varkarī — the word varkarī; chāgī hariṇī vā — [means] a young she-goat or a doe; lumpati — that tears up [the creeper].
Viśvanātha settles what varkarī is: the lexicon defines varkara as 'a young animal,' so varkarī is a young she-goat — or a doe. That is the creature stripping the jasmine.
