phulla-prasna-paṭalais tapanīya-varṇam
phulla-prasna-paṭalaiḥwith its clusters of fully-opened blossoms — the 'eyes' by which the creeper looks instrumental of means; the sn prasna stands for prasūna, 'blossom' (OCR residue)खिले हुए फूलों के समूहों के द्वारा (यहाँ 'प्रस्न' शब्द 'प्रसून' अर्थात् पुष्प का ही रूप है)
tapanīya-varṇamthe gold-hued one — the object of that gaze accusative sg.; object of ālokya in L2; tapanīya = goldसुवर्ण जैसे सुनहले वर्णवाले को — यह आगे L2 के 'आलोक्य' (देखकर) का कर्म है
phulla-prasna-paṭalaiḥ — with its masses of blooming blossoms; tapanīya-varṇam — the gold-hued one, [seen]
With its clusters of fully-opened blossoms, the campaka creeper catches sight of the gold-hued one.
An udāharaṇa of narma-sphoṭa — 'the first bud of playful love-banter' — the variety just defined at kārikā 265 (nc.8.193): sūcito bhāva-leśaiḥ, 'hinted by only slight traces of feeling', and therefore alpa-rasa, 'holding little rasa'. From Vidagdha-mādhava 2.25, spoken by Madhumaṅgala aside as he watches Kṛṣṇa. His teasing fancy — that golden Rādhā has become a tilaka on Kṛṣṇa's heart — only hints at Kṛṣṇa's love, so the rasa stays slight: exactly narma-sphoṭa.

śaṅke[but] I rather suspect — Madhumaṅgala sets aside the 'so they say' and offers his own fancy 1st sg.; the utprekṣā-marker that overrides the kila account of L2मैं तो यों संभावना करता हूँ — यह उत्प्रेक्षा का सूचक है, जो L2 के 'किल' वाले वृत्तान्त को हटा देता है

But I suspect otherwise. She is golden — like flawless, freshly-ground kuṅkuma paste.
Here the verse pivots from fact to fancy (utprekṣā): what looks like a trembling golden creeper is imagined to be something else. kila (L2) gave the plain account; śaṅke opens the poet's alternative — and it is only a playful hint, which is why the mood is narma-sphoṭa and not full rasa.

Golden Rādhā has become a tilaka drawn on the slate of his heart. That, Madhumaṅgala teases, is what really trembles there.
