vidhūtaṁ śiraḥshe gave her head a shake vidhūta 'shaken, tossed' (neut.) with śiras 'head' — the first of the gestures the verse listsसिर को झटक दिया — इन चेष्टाओं में पहली
vipakṣa-dig-upanyāse — the moment the rival's side came up; lola-bhrū-latayā — with a toss of her restless brow; śiraḥ vidhūtam — [she gave] her head a shake.
The verse opens by listing gestures. The instant someone brings up the rival's side, she tosses her head — the arched brow twitching like a swaying creeper. It is a wordless 'no', scorn thrown at the mere mention of her rival. This is the first gesture; each line adds another, and the final line ties them all together.
An udāharaṇa (illustrative verse), quoted from the Rasa-sudhākara (1.273), of priyāparādha-nirbheda accomplished ceṣṭayā, 'by gesture' — the third of its three modes named in kārikā 261 (v179): speech (vācā, v180), dress (veśena, v181), and gesture (ceṣṭayā). priyāparādha-nirbheda, 'the exposing of an offense touching the beloved', is a variety of narma, the love-charged banter of the kaiśikī vṛtti; here two rival women lay their quarrel bare through gestures alone, as the lead-in 'ceṣṭayā, yathā rasa-sudhākare' marks. The verse runs as a single sentence: lines 1-3 list the gestures, and line 4 delivers the verdict on them.

niśāmanethe moment she caught sight of them locative of time, √niśāmaya 'to observe, perceive'देखते समय — जब उस पर दृष्टि पड़ी
akṛta namaskāramshe made a bow akṛta 'she made' (aorist middle, √kṛ) + namaskāram 'a salutation, an obeisance'नमस्कार किया — प्रणाम कर बैठी
vilakṣa-smitamand with a sheepish, put-on smile adverbial accusative; vilakṣa 'abashed, disconcerted' + smita 'smile' — courtesy she does not feelझेंपी हुई मुस्कान के साथ — जो शिष्टता वह भीतर से अनुभव नहीं करती
tad-vṛndasya niśāmane — the moment she caught sight of that company; vilakṣa-smitam — with a sheepish smile; namaskāram akṛta — she made a bow.
The second gesture. The moment she notices that whole company, she drops a bow — but with a sheepish, forced smile (vilakṣa-smita). The courtesy is hollow: caught out, she covers it with an awkward grin and a show of respect she does not mean.

roṣāt tāmra-kapola-kāntini mukhe dṛṣṭyā nataṁ pādayor
roṣātout of sheer anger ablative of cause, roṣa 'rage'क्रोध के कारण — रोष से भरकर
tāmra-kapola-kāntini mukheupon [the rival's] face glowing copper-red at the cheeks locative — where the glance lands; tāmra 'copper-red' + kapola 'cheek' + kānti 'glow' + -in 'having' — cheeks flushed with angerताँबे-से लाल गालों की कान्ति वाले मुख पर — क्रोध से दहकते कपोलों वाले चेहरे पर
dṛṣṭyāwith a hard look instrumental of means, dṛṣṭi 'glance'दृष्टि से — नज़र के द्वारा
nataṁ pādayoḥa bow bent right down to the feet nata 'bent, bowed' (neut.) + pādayoḥ 'at the two feet' (loc. dual) — an exaggerated, mocking prostrationदोनों चरणों पर झुक गई — बढ़ा-चढ़ाकर, उपहासभरा प्रणाम
roṣāt — out of anger; tāmra-kapola-kāntini mukhe — upon the face glowing copper-red at the cheeks; dṛṣṭyā — with a hard look; pādayoḥ natam — a bow down to the feet.
The third gesture, and the sharpest. Angry herself, she fixes a hard look on the rival's face — cheeks flushed copper-red with rage — and then bends all the way down to her feet. It is a bow, but a mocking one: the exaggerated reverence is pure sarcasm, aimed straight at a face already burning.

vidhiḥthis whole performance nominative, the subject; vidhi 'procedure, course of conduct' — sums up the three gestures of L1-3यह आचरण — जो पहली तीन पंक्तियों की तीनों चेष्टाओं को समेटता है
dvābhyāmcarried on by the two of them instrumental dual, the agents — the two rival womenदोनों के द्वारा — दोनों प्रतिद्वन्द्विनी स्त्रियों ने
na kālocitaḥwas not at all suited to the occasion na 'not' + kāla-ucita 'fitting to the time' — the verse's verdictसमय के अनुकूल नहीं था — श्लोक का निर्णय
dvābhyām — by the two of them; guru-sannidhau api — even in an elder's presence; utsṛṣṭaḥ vidhiḥ — the conduct let loose; na kāla-ucitaḥ — was not suited to the occasion.
The last line ties it together. All three gestures — the head-toss, the sheepish bow, the sarcastic prostration — add up to one 'performance' (vidhi). And the two women kept it up even in front of an elder, where they should have held back. The verdict: it was utterly out of place (na kālocita). This is the whole point — the quarrel over the offense (priyāparādha) is never spoken aloud; the gestures alone give it away, and in the worst possible setting. Gesture-mode nirbheda, exactly as the kārikā promised.
guru here means simply a senior person present in the scene, not a spiritual teacher; the sting is that the two could not curb their sparring even before such an elder. vidhi, literally 'a prescribed procedure', is used with light irony for their unruly 'performance' — three gestures done as though by rule.

The instant the rival's side was brought up she tossed her head, her restless brow flicking like a swaying creeper; the moment she caught sight of that whole company she dropped a bow with a sheepish, put-on smile; and out of sheer anger she fixed a hard look on the rival's copper-flushed face and bent all the way down to her feet in mocking reverence — such was the performance the two of them let loose even in an elder's presence, and it was in no way suited to the occasion.
Illustrative verse (udāharaṇa) quoted from the Rasa-sudhākara (1.273) for priyāparādha-nirbheda accomplished ceṣṭayā, 'by gesture' — the third mode named in kārikā 261; two rivals lay their quarrel bare through gestures alone, lines 1-3 listing the three gestures and line 4 delivering the verdict.
