pūrvāṅka-ante — at the close of the previous act; sampraviṣṭaiḥ pātraiḥ — by the characters who entered [and stayed on]; bhāvy-aṅka-vastunaḥ — of the plot of the coming act [there is a hinting, completed in L2].
Take the characters who came on stage right at the end of the previous act. Fix on the plot of the act that is still to come. What these players do is give a hint of that coming plot.
The lead-in 'kecit tu—' ('but some [authorities] say—') marks this as another school's definition, not Rūpa's own kārikā. aṅkāsya (aṅka + āsya, 'the mouth/face of the act') is a nāṭya-śāstra device for bridging two acts: the characters who close one act carry the audience forward by foreshadowing the plot of the next. The continuity is the whole point — see avicchedya ('not cut off') in L2.

That foreshadowing — made by the very characters who stay on unbroken from the last act, without being sent off — is what they call the aṅkāsya, the 'mouth of the act.' So this school defines the device by its continuity: the same players who ended the previous act are the ones who open a window onto the next.

By the very characters who came on stage at the close of the previous act and stay on unbroken, without being sent off, a hint is given of the plot of the act still to come; that foreshadowing is what the authorities call the aṅkāsya, the 'mouth of the act.'
A quoted definition (kecit tu, 'but some say') of the bridging device aṅkāsya — defining it by the continuity of the characters who carry the previous act's close forward into a foreshadowing of the next act's plot.
