cūlikā is one of the arthopakṣepakas, the interlude devices a play uses to convey off-stage matter (the set is viṣkambhaka, cūlikā, aṅkāsya, aṅkāvatāra, praveśaka). Its mark: the matter is intimated by unseen persons speaking from behind the yavanikā, the curtain.
