tihṇāulā caūrī pañjariā-sañjadā ciraṁ jalai |

pañjariā-sañjadāshut up in her little cage (chāyā pañjarikā-saṁyatā)पिंजरे में बँधी हुई
ciraṁfor a long time nowबहुत समय से
tihṇāulā (tṛṣṇā-ākulā) — tormented by thirst; pañjariā-sañjadā (pañjarikā-saṁyatā) — shut up in her cage; caūrī (cakorī) — the cakorī hen; ciraṁ — for a long time now; jalai (jvalati) — burns.
The cakorī hen — the little bird that feeds only on moonbeams — is frantic with thirst. She is shut up in her cage, and for a long time now she has been burning.
An udāharaṇa of dūtyam, 'the go-between's office' — being a cooperating helper (sahakāritva) toward an end that is hard to bring about (nc.8.5, kārikā 143). Spoken by Kundalatā in the first act (source ref 1.58). As the author's own prose glosses it (nc.8.7), the thirsting, caged, burning cakorī is Rādhā, longing and hemmed in by her guardian Jaṭilā; the moon she pines for is Kṛṣṇa — so Kundalatā, pleading for the moon, is working as the dūtī who brings about the hard-to-arrange union.

tārāhī (tārādhīśa) — O moon, lord of the stars; baṁjula-kuñje (bañjula-kuñje) — into the bañjula bower; pāaṁ (pādaṁ) — your foot / your ray; sappadhārehi (prasāraya) — extend!
So, O moon — lord of all the stars — stretch your beam down into the bañjula bower. And the word for 'beam,' pāda, is also the word for a foot: it says at once 'send your light here' and 'come, set your foot here.'
This line carries the verse's headline pun: pāda means both a moon-ray and a foot. The cakorī lives on moonbeams, so begging the moon to extend its pāda into the bower is, on the second layer, Kundalatā the dūtī begging Kṛṣṇa to come in person to Rādhā in the trysting-bower — completing the durghaṭa (hard-to-arrange) union that makes her a go-between.
he tārāhī (tārādhīśa) — [tihṇāulā (tṛṣṇā-ākulā) pañjariā-sañjadā (pañjarikā-saṁyatā) caūrī (cakorī) ciraṁ jalai;] [tasmāt baṁjula-kuñje pāaṁ (pādaṁ) sappadhārehi (prasāraya).]
O moon, lord of all the stars — the cakorī hen, the little bird that lives on your beams alone, is frantic with thirst; shut fast in her cage, she has been burning for a long time now. So stretch your pāda down into the bañjula bower — and since pāda means both a ray of light and a foot, the plea is at once 'send your light here' and 'come, set your foot here.'
An udāharaṇa quoted (from the first act, Kundalatā's speech, source 1.58) to illustrate dūtyam, the go-between's office defined at kārikā 143 (nc.8.5): the caged, thirsting cakorī begging the moon for its pāda figures Rādhā longing for Kṛṣṇa, so Kundalatā the dūtī works to bring about the hard-to-arrange (durghaṭa) union.
