Jāmbavān — at first unrecognized for who he was — led his daughter out of a hard plight [to give her to you]. There is a word-play here: he leads her (nayan) away from mis-leading, from anaya.
An udāharaṇa of saṅgraha, defined in kārikā 86 (nc.6.64) as sāma-dāna-artha-saṁyogaḥ — 'the joining of conciliation (sāma) and gift (dāna) for a purpose (artha).' Jāmbavān makes peace with the Lord and gives his daughter; the two acts conjoined are the saṅgraha.

varaḥthe choicest one, the very boon nom.; śleṣa on vara — both 'boon / best' and, in the next word, 'bridegroom'श्रेष्ठ / वरदानरूप — यहाँ 'वर' पर श्लेष है
duhituḥof [his] daughter gen.; = Jāmbavān's daughter, the tanayā of L1(उसकी) पुत्री के — वही तनया जो पहली पंक्ति में आई
varaḥthe bridegroom she has won nom.; the second vara completes the punवर अर्थात् दूल्हा — दूसरा 'वर' श्लेष को पूर्ण करता है
tvam asi — you are [he]; yena — by whom; duhituḥ — the daughter's; varaḥ varaḥ [abhavat] — bridegroom [became] the choicest
You are the one by whom his daughter has won the finest of bridegrooms — for that peerless groom is you yourself. The word vara puns on 'the choicest boon' and 'the bridegroom.'
aviditaḥ [api] jāmbavān tanayām anayāt nayan mama upakṛtim kṛtavān; muni-manaḥ-praṇidheya-padāmbujaḥ tvam asi, yena duhituḥ varaḥ varaḥ [tvam asi].
Jāmbavān — though at first unrecognized for who he was — led his daughter out of a wrong course and so has done me a good turn; for you, whose lotus feet the minds of sages are fit to fix upon in meditation, are the very one through whom his daughter has won the choicest of bridegrooms — that peerless groom being none other than you yourself. (The word vara puns throughout: it is at once 'the choicest boon' and 'the bridegroom,' just as nayan, 'leading her out,' plays against anaya, the 'ill course' she is led away from.)
An udāharaṇa illustrating saṅgraha, defined in kārikā 86 (nc.6.64) as sāma-dāna-artha-saṁyoga — the joining of conciliation (sāma) and gift (dāna) for a purpose; here Jāmbavān both makes peace with the Lord and gives his daughter, the two acts conjoined. Spoken by Bhīṣma with joy (sānandam), quoted at 5.37.
