Kṛṣṇa is remembering a girl. In her distress she was wailing aloud and was about to throw herself into the water on the spot. Something came forth aimed at her — from the sun, the fierce-rayed one.

An udāharaṇa of parisarpa — 'the recollection of a lost bīja (the germ of the plot) is called parisarpa,' the sandhy-aṅga defined in the preceding kārikā 66 (nc.6.30). Kṛṣṇa speaks it to his friend, recalling the incident, so that the revived memory is itself the 'creeping back' of the lost seed.
