viṣayāśraya-bhede’pi mukhyena dviṣatā saha |
viṣayāśraya-bhede’pieven when the object (viṣaya) and the abode (āśraya) of the two rasas are different locative of concession; viṣaya = whom the mood is aimed at, āśraya = the devotee who holds itविषय और आश्रय का भेद होने पर भी (सप्तमी — यद्यपि दोनों भिन्न हों)
mukhyena dviṣatā sahawith a hostile principal (mukhya) rasa — one that hates it dviṣatā, present participle instr., 'hating'; saha governs the instrumentalद्वेष करने वाले मुख्य (रस) के साथ (तृतीया — 'सह' के योग में)
mukhyena dviṣatā saha — with a hostile principal rasa; viṣayāśraya-bhede api — even though object and abode differ
Take one principal (mukhya) rasa set against another principal rasa that is hostile to it. Even if the two are aimed at different objects and are held by different people, the rule about their meeting follows in the next line.
viṣaya and āśraya are the two poles of any rasa: the viṣaya is the object the mood targets (e.g. Kṛṣṇa), the āśraya is the vessel who feels it (the devotee). A mukhya rasa is one that rules as the dominant mood, not a subordinate (gauṇa) one.

An udāharaṇa (illustrative verse in a maiden's voice) for viṣaya-bheda, the difference-of-object case of the rule in L1–L2: her dāsya-rati toward her father meets her śṛṅgāra-rati toward Kṛṣṇa, both principal rasas, hence enmity. Introduced by the lead-in 'tatra viṣaya-bhede, yathā—'.

Rūpa's own tag on the example: here it is the pure maiden's prīti (her dāsya-rati toward her father) [set against her śṛṅgāra-rati toward Kṛṣṇa] that makes the pair. The tag is elliptical — it names only the prīti pole; the commentators supply the śṛṅgāra pole it is set against.
An author's classificatory note, not part of the maiden's speech. 'prītena' is instrumental and stands incomplete as it reads; Jiva (s2) fixes it as her affection whose object is the father, i.e. dāsya-rati.

By 'Kāśya' the verse means Sāndīpani — so 'Kāśya's house' is the home of Sāndīpani, where Kṛṣṇa was a student.

The 'prīti' in Rūpa's tag is the maiden's affection aimed at her father — her dāsya-rati. So Jiva fixes one pole of the clash: submissive love toward the father.

One might worry that this clash of two loves is itself a defect. Jiva heads it off: here too a special conception (bhāvanā-viśeṣa) is at work, so there is no fault. He then quotes a verse to show what that conception is.
'bhāvanā-viśeṣaṁ' stands in the accusative though the sense wants a nominative — read as 'a special conception [is to be supplied here]'. The solvent, as the following verse shows, is the maiden's settled certainty that Kṛṣṇa alone is her fit lord.

tasmād anyo varaḥ ko vāso what other bridegroom than him could there be vara = suitor/bridegroom; the rhetorical 'ko vā' expects the answer 'none'उससे भिन्न और कौन-सा वर होगा (प्रश्न जिसका उत्तर 'कोई नहीं')
mama ālambāya kalpatāmwould be fit to be my support dative of purpose; kalpatām, 'let [him] be adequate for'मेरे आलम्ब (आश्रय) के लिए समर्थ हो (चतुर्थी — प्रयोजन)

"I am born of the Sun himself; and he is the lord of the Sātvatas. Who else, then, could ever be a bridegroom fit to be my refuge?" The maiden declares Kṛṣṇa the only one worthy of her.
Why cited: Adduced to display the bhāvanā-viśeṣa that removes the fault: the maiden — herself Sun-born and holding Kṛṣṇa, lord of the Sātvatas, as the only fit support — loves him from a settled certainty, so her love carries no defect.

trayīmayāt — [the phrase] 'from the one made of the three Vedas'; sūryāt — [means] from the Sun
'Made of the three Vedas' means the Sun. So Jiva pins down her birth: she is the Sun's own daughter — which is why her father-directed prīti (s2) is dāsya toward the Sun.

The contrasting case — a principal rasa meeting a merely secondary (gauṇa) rasa — was already handled earlier in the laharī, so Viśvanātha only points back to it here rather than re-arguing it.
The mukhya/gauṇa distinction: a mukhya rasa rules as the person's dominant mood (as blue is part of what a blue lotus is), whereas a gauṇa rasa is only a subordinate, passing mood (as the crow on the roof only helps you spot the house, not part of the house). Two ruling moods at odds breed full vaira; a ruling mood against a subordinate one is the weaker case treated earlier.
