An udāharaṇa illustrating the lead-in 'tatra śānte'ṅgini prītasyāṅgatā' — śānta serving as the aṅgin (principal rasa) while prīta (loving service, dāsya) enters as its aṅga (subordinate). The verse is spoken in a śānta devotee's voice. The fire-and-sparks image echoes śruti (see Jīva below).

jīva-sphuliṅga-vahner iti — the phrase 'the fire whose sparks are the jīvas'; śrauta-anuvādaḥ — is an echo of śruti.
Jīva's first point: the fire-and-sparks image is not the poet's invention. It restates a well-known śruti verse.
The echoed text is Muṇḍaka Upaniṣad 2.1.1, 'yathā sudīptāt pāvakād visphuliṅgāḥ' — as thousands of sparks leap from a blazing fire, so beings arise from the imperishable. anuvāda = a restating, not a fresh claim.

ghanaḥ — dense = the divine form (śrī-vigraha) or the cit shaped as it; sac-cid-ānanda-lakṣaṇaṁ paraṁ brahma — the supreme Brahman of being-consciousness-bliss; saiva svarūpaṁ yasya — He whose nature just this is; tādṛśatvena mama ālambanasya iti — 'because He is such, He is my support'; tatra sva-niṣṭhā darśitā — thereby the devotee's own footing is shown.
Jīva unpacks 'dense consciousness'. It means the Lord's own form — the supreme Brahman that is being, consciousness, and bliss. The devotee's thought is: 'Because He is exactly this, He is the object my mood rests on.' And that thought is pure śānta — regarding the Lord as Brahman — so the word quietly shows the devotee is standing firm in his own śānta rasa.
ālambana = the support or object on which a rasa rests. sva-niṣṭhā = being fixed in one's own rasa; here, that the speaker's baseline mood stays śānta even as he reaches toward service.

praśastatvam api dhvanitamits being praiseworthy too is quietly suggested, not stated outright(उसकी) प्रशस्तता भी ध्वनित होती है
tasmāt śāntasya aṅgitvam — therefore śānta is the aṅgin; aṅgatve api — even in prīta's subordinate role; tādṛg-uttama-suhṛd-āliṅgitatvena — because embraced by such an excellent friend; praśastatvam api dhvanitam — its praiseworthiness too is suggested.
So śānta is the principal rasa here. But even in its lower, subordinate place, prīta is not diminished: because it is embraced by so fine a friend as śānta, its own worth is hinted at as well. The word suggests this by dhvani rather than saying it.
dhvani = suggested sense, carried under the surface rather than spoken. suhṛt (friend) is the pivot of this laharī: the two rasas relate as friends, so the junior one is honored, not eclipsed.

kintu atra api aṅgatve api — but here too, even in subordination; prītasya [śāntasya] prābalyam — prīta has the greater force; dadhni sitāyāḥ iva — like sugar in yogurt; āsvāda-ādhikyāt — because it heightens the relish; iti jñeyam — so understand.
One more point. Even though prīta sits in the junior role, in one respect it dominates: the sheer relish. The analogy is sugar in yogurt — the yogurt is the base (śānta), the sugar (prīta) is the small added ingredient, yet it is the sugar that carries the taste. So the subordinate rasa can still be what makes the whole thing sweet.
The text prints 'prītasya' with a bracketed variant 'śāntasya'. On the printed reading it is prīta (the aṅga) that dominates the relish; the variant would make śānta (the aṅgin) the strong one. Left unresolved. Analogy scope: it shows a subordinate ingredient can rule the flavor; it is not claiming prīta outranks śānta as the governing rasa — śānta remains the aṅgin (s4).

Why does a śānta devotee even wish to massage the feet? Jīva keeps it consistent with śānta. The wish is only to receive the bliss of touching Him — not to give Him pleasure by serving, which would be the dāsya mood. Since the Lord appears as already full and complete in bliss, there is nothing to add for Him; so the devotee's aim can only be his own share of touch-joy. The service-act stays coloured by śānta.
This is the fine line Jīva is drawing: the same outward act (pressing the feet) belongs to dāsya when the aim is to please the Lord, but stays within śānta when the aim is one's own contact-bliss with the complete One.
