yaḥ puṇḍarīkekṣaṇa tiṣṭhatas te
yaḥthe thing that — a masculine relative pronoun with no noun beside it; the verse never says what it stands for, and Viśvanātha has to supply daṇḍaḥ, "the staff"जो — पुल्लिंग सम्बन्धवाचक सर्वनाम, पर जिसका विशेष्य है वह पद श्लोक में कहीं नहीं; विश्वनाथ 'दण्डः' जोड़कर पूरा करते हैं
puṇḍarīkekṣaṇaO lotus-eyed oneहे कमल-सरीखे नेत्रोंवाले (सम्बोधन — सारा श्लोक कृष्ण से ही कहा जा रहा है)
tiṣṭhataḥ tebelonging to you as you stood there genitive of the present participle agreeing with te; it does not stand alone but hangs on kara-ambhoruha in the next line — the hand is yours while you are standingजब तू खड़ा था, तब तेरे — षष्ठी में वर्तमान कृदन्त 'तिष्ठतः' 'ते' का ही विशेषण है; यह अकेला नहीं ठहरता, अगली पंक्ति के 'कर-अम्भोरुह' से जुड़ता है
puṇḍarīkekṣaṇa — O lotus-eyed one; tiṣṭhataḥ te — of you as you stood there; yaḥ — the thing that
puṇḍarīkekṣaṇa — हे कमलनयन; goṣṭhe tiṣṭhataḥ te — गोकुल में खड़े हुए तेरे; yaḥ — जो (दण्ड)
The speaker turns and addresses Kṛṣṇa directly: O lotus-eyed one. Then he starts a relative clause — "the thing that…" — without saying yet what the thing is. Whatever it is, it belonged to you while you were standing there.
हे कमलनयन! गोकुल में जब तू खड़ा रहता था, तब तेरे हाथ में जो था — श्लोक यह नहीं कहता कि वह क्या था। केवल 'जो' कहकर छोड़ देता है। विश्वनाथ उसे 'दण्डः' कहकर भरते हैं।
An udāharaṇa for jāḍyam, "stupor", the lead-in word of this verse: the vyabhicāri-bhāva in which shock stops the body dead. It illustrates one of the moods listed for viyoga, separation, in vatsala-bhakti-rasa at 3.4.64.
यह 'जाड्य' का उदाहरण है — इसी श्लोक के आरम्भ में जो शब्द आया, वही। जाड्य वह व्यभिचारी भाव है जिसमें आघात से शरीर जहाँ का तहाँ जड़ हो जाता है। ३.४.६४ में वत्सल-भक्ति-रस के वियोग में जो भाव गिनाए गए, उन्हीं में से एक को यह श्लोक दिखाता है।

goṣṭheout in the cowherd villageगोकुल में, व्रज में — सप्तमी, स्थान बताती है
kara-ambhoruha-maṇḍanaḥwas the ornament of your lotus-hand ambhoruha, "water-born", is another word for lotus; the compound makes the hand the lotus and the thing held its decoration, so what he carries is spoken of as jewellery, not as a toolतेरे कर-कमल का आभूषण — 'अम्भोरुह' अर्थात् जल में उत्पन्न, यह कमल का ही दूसरा नाम है; समास हाथ को कमल बनाता है और जो उसमें है उसे उसका गहना, अतः जो वह उठाए है वह औज़ार नहीं, गहना कहा जा रहा है
abhūtit was, it used to be past tense: the speaker is recalling a scene, not describing something in front of himहुआ करता था — भूतकाल; बोलनेवाला सामने की वस्तु नहीं बता रहा, बीती हुई एक झाँकी स्मरण कर रहा है
goṣṭhe — out in the cowherd village; kara-ambhoruha-maṇḍanaḥ — the ornament of your lotus-hand; abhūt — it was
goṣṭhe — गोकुल में; kara-ambhoruha-maṇḍanaḥ — तेरे कर-कमल का आभूषण; abhūt — हुआ करता था
Out in the cowherd village, that thing was the ornament of your lotus-hand. So the thing left hanging in the first line is something you carried. Viśvanātha names it below: the herding staff.
गोकुल में वह तेरे कर-कमल का शृंगार बना रहता था। हाथ कमल है, और उसमें जो है वह उस कमल का गहना। 'था' कहकर बोलनेवाला उस बीते दृश्य को याद कर रहा है।
Calling it an ornament rather than a stick is the verse's own valuation — in his hand the staff is decoration. The next two lines turn that same staff into something that strikes his mother down.
उसे लाठी न कहकर आभूषण कहना — यह श्लोक का अपना आँकना है; उसके हाथ में वह दण्ड गहना ही है। और आगे की दो पंक्तियाँ उसी दण्ड को ऐसी वस्तु बना देती हैं जो उसकी माता को जड़ कर डालता है।

te jananī — your mother; daṇḍa-ākṛtiḥ babhūva — became staff-shaped
te jananī — तेरी माता; daṇḍa-ākṛtiḥ babhūva — दण्ड के आकारवाली हो गई
Your mother became a staff herself. Stiff, straight, unmoving. She saw the staff and she turned into one.
तेरी माता दण्ड के ही आकार की हो गई — सीधी, अकड़ी हुई, ज्यों लाठी।
The word daṇḍa runs three times through these two lines and that is where the verse lives: the daṇḍa in his hand, the daṇḍa that froze her senses (daṇḍa-stimitendriya), and the daṇḍa-shape she takes on. The play is the argument — what he holds, she becomes. That rigid stillness is exactly jāḍyam, the stupor named in the lead-in.

A record of an absence, not a gloss on the verse: the printed text marks that neither Jīva Gosvāmī nor Mukunda-dāsa writes anything here.
यह श्लोक पर कोई टीका नहीं, अपितु टीका के न होने की सूचना है: मुद्रित पाठ यह अंकित करता है कि इस स्थल पर न जीव गोस्वामी कुछ लिखते हैं, न मुकुन्द-दास।

goṣṭhe tiṣṭhatas tava yo daṇḍaḥ kara-kamalasya maṇḍano’bhūt, taṁ daṇḍam ||
goṣṭhe tiṣṭhataḥ tava"while you were standing in the cowherd village" — he restates the verse's te with tava, the plainer word for "your"गोकुल में खड़े हुए तेरे — मूल के 'तिष्ठतस्ते' को खोलकर 'तव' कर देते हैं
yaḥ daṇḍaḥthe staff that — here is the noun the verse withheld this is the whole point of the gloss: yaḥ in line 1 has no noun, and Viśvanātha fills it in with daṇḍaḥजो दण्ड — यही सारी टीका का प्रयोजन है: पहली पंक्ति के 'यः' के साथ कोई संज्ञा नहीं थी, विश्वनाथ उसे 'दण्डः' से भर देते हैं
kara-kamalasyaof your lotus-hand he rewrites the verse's compound kara-ambhoruha-maṇḍanaḥ as a genitive, so you can see that maṇḍana takes "of what" — the staff is the hand's ornamentकर-कमल का — श्लोक के समास 'कर-अम्भोरुह-मण्डनः' को षष्ठी में खोल देते हैं, जिससे दीखे कि 'मण्डन' किसका, यह अपेक्षा रखता है — दण्ड हाथ का आभूषण है
maṇḍanaḥ abhūtwas its ornamentआभूषण हुआ करता था
taṁ daṇḍamand "that" in line 3 means: that staff he supplies the noun for the correlative taṁ as well, closing the relative pair yaḥ … taṁउसी दण्ड को — नित्यसम्बन्धी 'तं' के लिए भी वे संज्ञा जोड़ देते हैं, और इस प्रकार 'यः … तं' की जोड़ी पूरी हो जाती है
goṣṭhe tiṣṭhataḥ tava — while you stood in the cowherd village; yaḥ daṇḍaḥ — the staff that; kara-kamalasya maṇḍanaḥ abhūt — was the ornament of your lotus-hand; taṁ daṇḍam — that staff
goṣṭhe tiṣṭhataḥ tava — गोकुल में खड़े हुए तेरे; kara-kamalasya yaḥ daṇḍaḥ maṇḍanaḥ abhūt — कर-कमल का जो दण्ड आभूषण हुआ करता था; taṁ daṇḍam — उसी दण्ड को
Viśvanātha supplies the one word the verse deliberately withholds. The relative yaḥ has no noun anywhere in the four lines; he gives it — daṇḍaḥ, the staff. Then he says the line back in plain prose: while you stood in the cowherd village, the staff that was the ornament of your lotus-hand. And he answers the taṁ of line 3 too — taṁ daṇḍam, that staff. So it is the herding staff she sees, and the staff she turns into.
गोकुल में खड़े हुए तेरे कर-कमल का जो दण्ड आभूषण बना रहता था, उसी दण्ड को — । विश्वनाथ दोनों जगह छूटी हुई संज्ञा भर देते हैं: 'यः' के साथ दण्डः, 'तं' के साथ दण्डम्। और समास को षष्ठी में खोलकर दिखा देते हैं कि आभूषण किसका है।
