virahān mura-dviṣaś ciraṁ
virahātbecause of the separation ablative of cause; shows as virahān before mura- by sandhiवियोग के कारण
mura-dviṣaḥfrom Kṛṣṇa, the enemy of the demon Mura genitive with viraha; mura-dviṣ = Murāri, i.e. Kṛṣṇaमुरारि अर्थात् कृष्ण के (वियोग से) — जिसका वियोग हुआ
ciramlasting a long timeचिरकाल तक, बहुत समय तक
virahāt — because of the separation; mura-dviṣaḥ — from Kṛṣṇa, Mura's foe; ciram — long-drawn.
Because of a long separation from Kṛṣṇa, the slayer of the demon Mura —
An udāharaṇa of jāgarya (wakefulness, sleeplessness), the anubhāva named in the lead-in 'jāgaryā, yathā—'. King Bahulāśva's long, sleepless nights in separation from Kṛṣṇa illustrate it.

kṣaṇadāḥ kṣaṇa-dāyitojjhitā
kṣaṇadāḥthe nights (kṣaṇadā, literally 'the giver of moments') nom. pl., the subject; the pun sits in this very wordक्षणदाएँ (रात्रियाँ), जो कर्ता हैं
kṣaṇa-dāyitā-ujjhitāḥrobbed of their joy-giving power 'deprived-of' compound (ujjhita = abandoned by); kṣaṇa-dāyitā = festival-/joy-giving — the commentators unpack the punआनन्द देने वाली वस्तु से रहित (जिनसे आनन्द-दात्री दूर हो गई)
kṣaṇadāḥ — the nights; kṣaṇa-dāyitā-ujjhitāḥ — stripped of their joy-giving.
the nights — the very 'givers of joy' — now stripped of all power to give joy,
The word kṣaṇadā carries a śleṣa (double sense) that the commentators bring out: 'giver of moments' = night, but also 'giver of festivals/joy'. This second sense clashes with 'robbed of joy-giving', seeding the apparent contradiction spelled out in the commentary.

kṣaṇadā rātryas tad-upalakṣitatvād dināny api |
kṣaṇadāthe word 'kṣaṇadā' pratīka — the lemma being glossed'क्षणदा' — यही वह पद है जिसकी व्याख्या हो रही है
rātryaḥmeans the nightsअर्थात् रात्रियाँ
tad-upalakṣitatvātand because the nights work as a marker that draws in the rest ablative of reason; upalakṣaṇa — indication that points beyond the literal termक्योंकि वह (रात्रि) केवल उपलक्षण है, उसी के द्वारा उपलक्षित होने से
dināni apithe days as well [grew many] api — 'too', extending 'night' to 'day'दिन भी (इस 'भी' से रात्रि का अर्थ दिन तक फैल जाता है)
kṣaṇadā — the word kṣaṇadā; rātryaḥ — means the nights; tad-upalakṣitatvāt — and since they mark out more than themselves; dināni api — the days too.
'Kṣaṇadā' means the nights. And because 'night' here works as a marker that points past itself, the days grew many too — not the nights alone.
upalakṣaṇa vs viśeṣaṇa: a viśeṣaṇa states what a thing is ('the blue lotus' — blue belongs to the lotus); an upalakṣaṇa is only a pointer that helps you locate more ('the house with the crow on it' — the crow is no part of the house). Here 'night' is an upalakṣaṇa: it names the nights but points on to the days too, so both grew long.

utsava-dātryo’pīti śleṣa-mūlo virodhābhāsaḥ ||
utsava-dātryaḥ api'the givers of festival-joy,' as well the second sense of kṣaṇadā — here kṣaṇa = festival / joyउत्सव (आनन्द) देने वाली भी — यहाँ 'क्षण' का अर्थ उत्सव/आनन्द है
iti— so runs the second readingऐसा (दूसरा अर्थ लेकर)
śleṣa-mūlaḥrooted in the pun śleṣa — one word carrying two senses at onceश्लेष पर आधारित (एक शब्द दो अर्थ एक साथ धारण करता है)
virodha-ābhāsaḥan apparent contradiction virodhābhāsa — a figure where a seeming self-contradiction dissolves on the second senseविरोधाभास — जहाँ प्रत्यक्ष विरोध दूसरे अर्थ पर मिट जाता है
utsava-dātryaḥ api — 'givers of joy' too; iti — so; śleṣa-mūlaḥ virodha-ābhāsaḥ — an apparent contradiction rooted in the pun.
There is a second sense too: kṣaṇadā also means 'giver of festivals, giver of joy.' So the 'joy-givers' were themselves robbed of joy — a contradiction only in appearance. It rests wholly on the pun (śleṣa) in the one word kṣaṇadā, and so it is a virodhābhāsa.
virodhābhāsa ('the semblance of contradiction') is a poetic figure: a statement that looks self-contradictory but is not, once its double meaning is seen. Here 'the joy-givers gave no joy' is squared away by holding kṣaṇadā in its two senses ('night' and 'joy-giver') at once.
