An udāharaṇa of tṛpti ('contentment, satisfaction'), the vyabhicāri-bhāva set up by the lead-in 'tatra tṛpter, yathā—' ('there, of tṛpti, for example—'). The verse is spoken by the priests (viprāṇām naḥ) who attended the festival, addressing Kṛṣṇa as gopendra in the next line.

It was a contentment, O gopendra, such as does not arise in us even when we pronounce a blessing. When a brāhmaṇa blesses someone he feels his own priestly potency, his power to make the blessing come true; yet even that feeling of efficacy falls short of the satisfaction we felt at your festival.
हे गोपेन्द्र! आशीर्वाद देने में भी हमें वैसी सामर्थ्य का अनुभव नहीं होता जैसी इस उत्सव में हुई तृप्ति से हुआ। 'यथा' यहाँ पहली पंक्ति के 'तथा' का उत्तर है, और 'न…अपि' पूरी तुलना का निषेध करता है।
