aho bhāgyam aho bhāgyaṁ nanda-gopa-vrajaukasām |
aho bhāgyam aho bhāgyaṁoh, the fortune! oh, the fortune! — the exclamation doubled vīpsā: the word is repeated to mark overflowing wonder (so Jīva, s1)अहो भाग्य! अहो भाग्य! — विस्मय की अधिकता से यह वचन दुहराया गया है

aho bhāgyam aho bhāgyaṁ — अहो भाग्य! अहो भाग्य!; nanda-gopa-vrajaukasām — नन्द-गोप तथा व्रजनिवासियों का
Oh, the fortune! Oh, the fortune of the people who live in Nanda the cowherd's Vraja! The words are said twice because the wonder is too great to say once.
अहो! नन्द आदि गोपों तथा व्रजवासियों का कैसा भाग्य! कैसा भाग्य! विस्मय की अधिकता के कारण यह वचन दो बार कहा गया है।
Why cited: Adduced as scriptural celebration that the supreme good fortune of the Vraja people is to have the full, eternal Brahman himself as their friend.
क्यों उद्धृत: इसे शास्त्रीय प्रमाण-रूप उत्सव के रूप में उद्धृत किया गया है कि व्रजवासियों का परम सौभाग्य यही है कि साक्षात् पूर्ण सनातन ब्रह्म ही उनका मित्र है।

Why cited: Names the four epithets (friend, full, supreme-joy, eternal) that Jīva unpacks to show the embodied Kṛṣṇa is the whole and highest Brahman.
क्यों उद्धृत: यह पंक्ति उन चार विशेषणों (मित्र, पूर्ण, परमानन्द, सनातन) को नाम देती है, जिन्हें खोलकर जीव गोस्वामी दिखाते हैं कि साकार श्रीकृष्ण ही पूर्ण और परम ब्रह्म हैं।

aho bhāgyam aho bhāgyam iti vismayādhikye vīpsā |
aho bhāgyam aho bhāgyam itithe phrase 'oh the fortune, oh the fortune''अहो भाग्य! अहो भाग्य!' — यों दो बार कहने में
vismaya-ādhikyewhen the wonder is overwhelming locative of occasion: the condition in which the doubling happensविस्मय की अधिकता होने पर (सप्तमी: जिस अवस्था में यह द्विरुक्ति होती है)
vīpsāis a deliberate repetitionवीप्सा है — भाव की अतिशयता दिखाने के लिए शब्द का जान-बूझकर दुहराना
aho bhāgyam aho bhāgyam iti — the words 'oh the fortune, oh the fortune'; vismaya-ādhikye — where the wonder is excessive; vīpsā — [are] a repetition.
aho bhāgyam aho bhāgyam iti — 'अहो भाग्य! अहो भाग्य!' यों; vismaya-ādhikye — विस्मय की अधिकता में; vīpsā — वीप्सा
Jīva explains the doubling: 'oh the fortune, oh the fortune' is vīpsā, a repetition used when wonder is too great. You say it twice because once is not enough.
'अहो भाग्य! अहो भाग्य!' — यहाँ विस्मय की अधिकता के कारण वीप्सा है। अर्थात् आश्चर्य की प्रबलता प्रकट करने के लिए शब्द को दो बार कहा गया है।
vīpsā: in grammar, the intentional repeating of a word to mark intensity, completeness, or (here) overflowing amazement.
वीप्सा व्याकरण में उसे कहते हैं जब किसी शब्द को जान-बूझकर दुहराया जाता है — तीव्रता, पूर्णता, अथवा (यहाँ) उमड़ते हुए आश्चर्य को सूचित करने के लिए।

tena dvayor eva padayor na paunaruktyam |
tenaso, for that reasonइस कारण (वीप्सा होने से)
dvayor eva padayoḥof just these two [repeated] words genitive; eva: precisely these two, no moreइन्हीं दो पदों का — 'एव' से ठीक इन्हीं दो का, इससे अधिक का नहीं
na paunaruktyamthere is no fault of redundancyपुनरुक्ति-दोष नहीं है
tena — therefore; dvayoḥ eva padayoḥ — of just the two words; na paunaruktyam — [there is] no redundancy.
tena — इस कारण; dvayor eva padayoḥ — इन्हीं दो पदों का; na paunaruktyam — पुनरुक्ति नहीं
So the two repeated words are not a redundancy. Since the repetition does the work of intense wonder, saying it twice is not mere padding.
इसीलिए इन दोनों पदों में पुनरुक्ति का दोष नहीं है। वीप्सा होने से दो बार कहना निष्प्रयोजन दुहराव नहीं ठहरता।
paunaruktya: the literary defect of saying the same thing twice to no purpose; Jīva heads it off.
पौनरुक्त्य वह साहित्यिक दोष है जब एक ही बात व्यर्थ ही दो बार कह दी जाए; जीव गोस्वामी इस आशंका को पहले ही हटा देते हैं।

Or else, says Jīva, take the doubling this way: it lights up the sheer splendor of the Vraja people's fortune and points to its full extent. Both readings stand together.
अथवा यह द्विरुक्ति व्रजवासियों के भाग्य के तेज को प्रकाशित करती है — उनके जितने भी भाग्य की सीमा है, उस समस्त भाग्य को द्योतित करती है। ऐसा अर्थ है।

aho iti vismaye yad yasmād yeṣāṁ vā brahma tvaṁ mitraṁ kīdṛśaṁ ? brahma pūrṇaṁ mūrta-pūrṇānandatvāt |
aho iti vismaye'aho' is used in the sense of wonder'अहो' शब्द विस्मय में प्रयुक्त है
yad yasmād yeṣāṁ vāthe 'yat' means either 'because' or 'of whom' Jīva offers two construals of the relative yat in yan-mitram'यत्' के — 'जिससे' अथवा 'जिनका' — दो अन्वय जीव गोस्वामी देते हैं
brahma tvaṁ mitraṁyou, Brahman, [are their] friend Jīva reads the verse as addressing Kṛṣṇa directlyहे ब्रह्म! तू ही मित्र है — जीव गोस्वामी श्लोक को साक्षात् कृष्ण को सम्बोधित मानते हैं
kīdṛśaṁ ?[Brahman] of what kind? the scholastic question that sets up each epithetकैसा (मित्र)? — यह शास्त्रीय प्रश्न प्रत्येक विशेषण को उठाता है

aho iti vismaye — 'aho' marks wonder; yat = yasmāt or yeṣāṁ — 'because' or 'of whom'; brahma tvaṁ mitraṁ — you, Brahman, are the friend; kīdṛśaṁ — of what sort?; brahma pūrṇaṁ — Brahman is full; mūrta-pūrṇānandatvāt — because embodied he is complete bliss.
aho iti vismaye — 'अहो' विस्मय में; yad yasmād yeṣāṁ vā — 'यत्' के अर्थ 'जिससे' या 'जिनका'; brahma tvaṁ mitraṁ — हे ब्रह्म, तू मित्र; kīdṛśaṁ — कैसा; brahma pūrṇaṁ — ब्रह्म पूर्ण; mūrta-pūrṇānandatvāt — साकार पूर्णानन्दता के कारण
Jīva turns to the words. 'aho' is a cry of wonder. The 'yat' can mean 'because' or 'whose'. Now: you, Brahman, are their friend — but Brahman of what kind? Full. Full because the bliss that is complete is bliss with a form.
'अहो' शब्द विस्मय में है। 'यत्' का अन्वय 'जिससे' अथवा 'जिनका' — दोनों प्रकार से हो सकता है। हे ब्रह्म! तू ही उनका मित्र है। कैसा मित्र? वह ब्रह्म पूर्ण है — क्योंकि पूर्ण आनन्दस्वरूपता साकार रूप में ही है।

But formless bliss is not full in that same way. Set beside it, it is the divine form alone that carries bliss in abundance. So 'full' rightly points to the embodied Brahman, not the formless one.
परन्तु निराकार आनन्द उस प्रकार पूर्ण नहीं होता। उसकी अपेक्षा श्रीविग्रह में ही प्रचुर आनन्द रहता है, इसीलिए साकार रूप ही पूर्ण कहलाता है।

And scripture backs this up. The verse says the beauty of the form stirs mind and body even in those wedded to the formless imperishable. Since even Brahman-experts are shaken, the embodied bliss must be the greater one.
और वैसे ही — 'अक्षर ब्रह्म के सेवियों के भी चित्त और शरीर में क्षोभ होता है' (भागवत ३।१५।४३)। इस वचन से यह सूचित होता है कि निराकार ब्रह्म के ज्ञान में निपुण जन भी क्षुब्ध हो जाते हैं। इसीलिए यह प्रमाण लाया गया है।
Why cited: Cited to prove the embodied bliss surpasses the formless: even seasoned knowers of formless Brahman are agitated by Kṛṣṇa's form.
