sūnuḥhe is the sonपुत्र
api — although; jani-parihīnaḥ — though free of birth; ābhīra-bhartuḥ — of the cowherd-chief; sūnuḥ — he is [nonetheless] the son.
Though he has no birth at all, he is the son of Nanda, chief of the cowherds. The first impossibility: the unborn one is born.
An udāharaṇa of durghaṭa-ghaṭanā, 'bringing about the impossible', included here by the lead-in 'by the word ādi, durghaṭa-ghaṭanā too'. Jīva defines it (s1) as the revealing of his own hard-to-fathom condition; the verse is spoken in the voice of Śrī Śukadeva ('prabhur me'). Each line pairs an api-concession with its opposite.

svīya-durūha-avasthiteḥ prakāśanamthe revealing of his own hard-to-fathom state durūha = 'hard to grasp'; genitive is the object of prakāśanamअपनी दुर्बोध (कठिनता से समझ में आने वाली) स्थिति का प्रकाशन
durghaṭa-ghaṭanā nāma — the term durghaṭa-ghaṭanā means; svīya-durūha-avasthiteḥ prakāśanam — the showing-forth of his own state that is hard to comprehend.
Jīva defines the quality: durghaṭa-ghaṭanā means his making visible a condition of his that no one can quite grasp. It is not a trick; it is him letting his own inconceivable nature show.

ajaḥ api jātaḥ… iti śrīmad-uddhava-vacana-ādibhyaḥ — the birthlessness rests on Uddhava's words etc.; sūnuḥ ābhīra-bhartuḥ iti… garga-vākyāt — his sonship on Garga's words.
Jīva grounds both halves of the paradox in scripture. The birthlessness is proved by Uddhava's line 'though unborn, he is born for the world's welfare'; his being Nanda's son by Garga's statement that he was earlier born as Vasudeva's child.
Why cited: Scriptural proof for both sides of line 1 — that Kṛṣṇa is unborn (Uddhava) yet genuinely takes birth as a son (Garga, Bhā.Pu. 10.8.14).

Jīva notes a variant reading: some texts have 'sva-prasūḥ garbha-janma' (birth from his own mother's womb) in place of the received wording.

Jīva supports this with Śuka's line 'he who has neither an inside nor an outside' — the pervading Lord is not bounded, yet is fully present in the lap.
Why cited: Proof that the all-pervading form (vibhu) has no in/out limit, so its being whole in the lap contradicts nothing (Bhā.Pu. 10.9.13).
