Even so, the form of Kṛṣṇa is lifted above by rasa — the devotional mood itself makes his form stand out as supreme. And this superiority is exactly where rasa naturally lives; this is the settled condition of rasa. So: identical in essence, yet Kṛṣṇa's form is drawn higher because rasa reaches its fullness there.

The bare word 'rasa' here means the rasa that is made of prema — and not just any prema, but the love that stands above every other kind of love. So 'by rasa' means 'by the mood built out of the highest love'.
'रसेन' का अर्थ है — सबसे उत्कृष्ट प्रेममय रस के द्वारा।

utkṛṣṭatayā prakāśyateit is made to shine as superior / is caused to appear as higherउत्कृष्ट रूप में प्रकाशित किया जाता है
iti arthaḥthat is the meaningऐसा अर्थ है
utkṛṣyate — 'is raised'; antarbhūta-ṇi-arthatvāt — because it hides a causative sense; utkṛṣṭatayā prakāśyate — [so it means] 'is caused to appear as superior'; iti arthaḥ — this is the meaning
utkṛṣyate — 'उत्कृष्यते'; antarbhūta-ṇi-arthatvāt — णिच्-अर्थ अन्तर्भूत होने के कारण; utkṛṣṭatayā prakāśyate — उत्कृष्ट रूप में प्रकाशित किया जाता है; iti arthaḥ — ऐसा अर्थ है
The passive verb 'utkṛṣyate' looks like a plain 'is raised,' but a causative meaning is tucked inside it. So read it as 'is made to shine forth as superior.' Rasa does not just find Kṛṣṇa's form high — it actively displays it as the highest.
'उत्कृष्यते' का अर्थ है — उत्कृष्ट रूप में प्रकाशित किया जाता है; क्योंकि इस क्रिया में प्रेरणार्थक (णिच्) का अर्थ भीतर ही समाया है।
ṇi (home meaning): in Sanskrit grammar, the affix that turns a verb causative ('do' → 'make do'). Here: Jīva says that causative force is already 'inside' the verb, so 'is raised' really means 'is caused to be shown as raised.'
णिच् (मूल अर्थ) — संस्कृत व्याकरण में वह प्रत्यय जो क्रिया को प्रेरणार्थक बना देता है ('करना' → 'कराना')। यहाँ जीव कहते हैं कि प्रेरणार्थक शक्ति क्रिया के भीतर ही निहित है, इसलिए 'उत्कृष्यते' (उठाया जाता है) का वास्तविक अर्थ है 'उत्कृष्ट रूप में दिखाया जाता है'।

Why does rasa raise Kṛṣṇa's form? Because this raising is simply what rasa is. 'The condition of rasa' means the very nature of rasa. It is in rasa's grain to display Kṛṣṇa as supreme.

The queens declare: 'O chaste lady, we do not want world-empire, nor Indra's throne, nor the enjoyment of both, nor mystic powers, nor Brahmā's post, nor endless liberation — nor even Hari's own exalted status.' They list every high reward and reject each one.

'What we do long for,' the queens say, 'is to carry on our heads the dust of this mace-bearer Kṛṣṇa's beautiful feet — that dust made fragrant with the kuṅkuma from Śrī's breasts.' They want the foot-dust, and specifically the foot-dust that carries Śrī's scent.
हम तो गदाधारी कृष्ण के उन श्रीचरणों की धूलि को — जो श्री (लक्ष्मी) के स्तन-कुंकुम की सुगन्ध से समृद्ध है — अपने सिर पर धारण करने की कामना करती हैं।
Why cited: Cited to fix what the queens actually crave — Kṛṣṇa's foot-dust bearing Śrī's fragrance — which sets up Jīva's whole inquiry into which 'Śrī' this is.
क्यों उद्धृत: यह श्लोक इसलिए उद्धृत है कि रानियाँ वास्तव में किसकी अभिलाषा करती हैं यह निश्चित हो — कृष्ण के चरणों की वह धूलि जिसमें श्री की सुगन्ध है — और यही जीव के इस प्रश्न को जन्म देता है कि यह 'श्री' कौन है।

This verse widens the picture: the women of Vraja, the tribal Pulinda women, the grasses and creepers, the cows, and the cowherds — all of them long for the touch of the feet of the great soul Kṛṣṇa as he goes about herding the cows. Everyone in Vraja, human and non-human, craves that foot-touch.

'वैराज्य' का अर्थ है अणिमा आदि (योग-) सिद्धियों से सुशोभित होना।

'Ānantya' (endlessness) refers to the Taittirīya method of measuring bliss: start with the joy of one human being, then multiply by a hundred at each higher rung until you reach the topmost measurable joy, that of Brahmā. Beyond even that, the Upaniṣad says of the Supreme Brahman, 'from which words turn back' — pointing to a bliss no counting can reach. Even that limitless bliss of Brahman is included in what the queens set aside.
The two śruti tags: 'ye te śatam' (Taittirīya 2.8) is the ladder that multiplies bliss a hundredfold per step; 'yato vāco nivartante' (Taittirīya 2.4) marks the Brahman that speech cannot reach. Jīva uses them to gloss 'ānantya' as the very highest, immeasurable liberative bliss.

To sum up: 'hareḥ padam' means the very status of Hari, the Lord of Śrī — including even the liberation of sāmīpya, living near God, and the rest. The queens reject all of that too. 'We do not desire it' means 'we have no wish to make it ours, to hold it in our grasp.'
अधिक क्या कहें — श्रीपति हरि का पद, सामीप्य आदि मुक्ति, यह सब जो कुछ है, उसकी हम कामना नहीं करतीं, अर्थात् उसे अपने वश में करना नहीं चाहतीं।
sāmīpya (home meaning): one of the five classical types of mukti, dwelling in God's proximity. Here it stands with 'ādi' for the whole set of liberations, all of which the queens waive.
सामीप्य (मूल अर्थ) — मुक्ति के पाँच शास्त्रीय प्रकारों में से एक, भगवान् के समीप निवास करना। यहाँ 'आदि' के साथ यह समस्त मुक्तियों के समूह का सूचक है, जिन सबका रानियाँ त्याग कर देती हैं।

tasmāt — therefore; tat-tat-vilakṣaṇāyāḥ eva śriyaḥ — of a Śrī unlike either [the Lord's abode or Rukmiṇī]; kuca-kuṅkuma-gandha-āḍhyam — enriched with her breast-kuṅkuma scent; tat syāt — that must be the dust meant; iti gamyate — this is understood
tasmāt — इसलिए; tat-tat-vilakṣaṇāyāḥ eva śriyaḥ — उन सबसे विलक्षण श्री के ही; kuca-kuṅkuma-gandha-āḍhyam — स्तन-कुंकुम की सुगन्ध से समृद्ध; tat syāt — वह होगी; iti gamyate — ऐसा समझा जाता है
So the objection actually forces the answer. The 'Śrī' whose breast-scent the queens crave cannot be the Lord's own status (they renounced that), nor Rukmiṇī (they already have that). It must be a Śrī altogether different from both. The dust they want is the dust perfumed by that unique Śrī's breasts.
इसलिए यह समझा जाता है कि वह धूलि उन सबसे विलक्षण किसी श्री के ही स्तन-कुंकुम की सुगन्ध से समृद्ध होगी।

The Pulinda women see kuṅkuma on the grass — kuṅkuma that first colored Kṛṣṇa's reddish lotus-feet, and before that had adorned his beloved's breasts, now brushed off onto the grass by his feet. Struck with love-sickness at the sight, they smear that grass-kuṅkuma on their own faces and breasts, and so throw off their torment and are made complete. Even the tribal women are fulfilled by the trace of Kṛṣṇa's beloved's kuṅkuma.
पुलिन्द-स्त्रियाँ कृतार्थ हैं — जो कृष्ण के चरण-कमल की लालिमा वाले, प्रियतमा के स्तन को मण्डित करने वाले श्री-कुंकुम को, जो अब तृणों पर लगा हुआ है, अपने मुख और स्तनों पर लगाकर, उनके दर्शन की स्मर-पीड़ा को शान्त कर लेती हैं।
Why cited: Cited to identify the special Śrī: the 'beloved' (dayitā) whose breast-kuṅkuma travels to Kṛṣṇa's feet is the gopī-consort, not Lakṣmī or Rukmiṇī — so the coveted scent is hers.
क्यों उद्धृत: यह श्लोक उस विशेष श्री की पहचान के लिए उद्धृत है — जिस 'प्रियतमा' (दयिता) के स्तन का कुंकुम कृष्ण के चरणों तक पहुँचता है वह गोपी-प्रिया है, न लक्ष्मी न रुक्मिणी — अतः वह वाञ्छित सुगन्ध उसी की है।

utprekṣyateis poetically suggested / imaginedउत्प्रेक्षित की जाती है
vartamāna-prayogeṇa — by using the present tense; tat-tat-avicchedaḥ — the ceaselessness of that longing; utprekṣyate — is figuratively suggested
vartamāna-prayogeṇa — वर्तमान काल के प्रयोग से; tat-tat-avicchedaḥ — उस वाञ्छा की निरन्तरता; utprekṣyate — उत्प्रेक्षित की जाती है
Why keep the present tense at all, then? Because the present-tense 'desire' hints that their longing never breaks off — it flows on unbroken. The grammar quietly pictures a craving that has no end.
वर्तमान काल के प्रयोग से उस वाञ्छा की निरन्तरता उत्प्रेक्षित की जाती है।
utprekṣā (home meaning): a poetic figure of 'imaginative supposition.' Here Jīva says the present tense is a deliberate touch, suggesting the longing's unbrokenness rather than stating a bare fact.
उत्प्रेक्षा (मूल अर्थ) — 'कल्पनामयी सम्भावना' नामक एक काव्यालंकार। यहाँ जीव कहते हैं कि वर्तमान काल का प्रयोग एक जान-बूझकर किया गया संकेत है, जो वाञ्छा की अखण्डता को सूचित करता है, न कि केवल एक तथ्य कहता है।

What kind of longing is theirs? It is the pure-emotion kind. Scripture itself states that 'by unmixed love alone the gopīs, the cows, the trees, and the deer' attained Kṛṣṇa. That very statement shows their longing runs on feeling, not on qualification or effort.
इनकी वाञ्छा (सम्भव है) क्योंकि 'गोपियाँ, गौएँ, वृक्ष, मृग' — केवल भाव मात्र से (कृष्ण को पा लेते हैं) — ऐसा (शास्त्र में) देखा जाता है।
Why cited: The tag 'gopyo gāvo nagā mṛgāḥ' is adduced to prove that in Vraja mere pure bhāva — not rank or discipline — is the qualification, so grasses and tribal women too can reach Kṛṣṇa.
क्यों उद्धृत: 'गोप्यो गावो नगा मृगाः' यह वचन इसलिए उद्धृत है कि व्रज में केवल शुद्ध भाव ही — न कि पद या साधना — योग्यता है, अतः तृण और भील-स्त्रियाँ भी कृष्ण को पा सकती हैं।

Why does the verse also name the cows and the cowherds herding them? Some of those cowherds — the intimate playmate-friends and their like — do gladly assist Kṛṣṇa's loving pastimes. Yet because they are male, they are not eligible for this particular breast-scent relish. Naming them is meant to imply exactly that unfitness. So the list quietly separates who can and cannot share in this.

Here is the upshot. Of Śrī — the goddess famous as Kṛṣṇa's would-be lover — scripture reports only her longing for him, never her actual union with him. She desires; she does not attain the intimate contact. That gap is the key Jīva is about to use.

The cowherd boys marvel: 'O Lord, we cannot tell whose great fortune this is — the right to touch the dust of your feet. For it is a privilege that Śrī herself, the loveliest of women, chased: giving up all other desires and holding a long vow, she performed austerities just to gain it.' Even the goddess of fortune had to do penance for what Vraja touches freely.
हे देव, यह किसका अनुग्रह है — आपके चरण-रेणु के स्पर्श का यह अधिकार — हम नहीं जानतीं; जिसकी अभिलाषा से श्री (लक्ष्मी) ने भी कामनाओं को त्यागकर चिरकाल तक व्रत धारण कर तप किया।
Why cited: Cited to prove Jīva's point that Śrī only longed and strove for Kṛṣṇa's foot-dust — she desired the privilege but is not shown gaining the union.
क्यों उद्धृत: यह श्लोक जीव के इस मत को सिद्ध करने के लिए उद्धृत है कि श्री (लक्ष्मी) ने कृष्ण के चरण-रेणु की केवल अभिलाषा और उसके लिए तप किया — उसने अधिकार चाहा, पर मिलन प्राप्त करती हुई नहीं दिखाई गई।

Why cited: Cited, like the previous line, to establish that Śrī worships Kṛṣṇa — she is the aspirant, confirming she only longs and does not attain the gopī-union.
क्यों उद्धृत: पूर्व पंक्ति की भाँति यह भी इसलिए उद्धृत है कि श्री कृष्ण की अर्चना करती है — वह आराधिका है, इससे पुष्ट होता है कि वह केवल अभिलाषा करती है, गोपी-मिलन नहीं पाती।

Nor would it make sense for the Vraja women to hanker after a link with Lakṣmī-Śrī. Scripture says that 'the favor of Kṛṣṇa's most intimate love was not granted even to Śrī who rests on his chest.' Since the gopīs are declared even higher than Śrī, they would gain nothing by wanting her status. So this rules out Lakṣmī too.

Why cited: The tag 'nāyaṁ śriyo'ṅga u nitānta-rateḥ prasādaḥ' is cited to prove the gopīs outrank even chest-borne Lakṣmī — hence they cannot be longing for kinship with her.
क्यों उद्धृत: 'नायं श्रियोऽङ्ग उ नितान्त-रतेः प्रसादः' यह वचन इसलिए उद्धृत है कि गोपियाँ वक्षःस्थल-निवासिनी लक्ष्मी से भी श्रेष्ठ हैं — अतः वे उससे सम्बन्ध की लालसा नहीं कर सकतीं।

tasmāt — therefore; rukmiṇī dvāravatyāṁ tu rādhā vṛndāvane vane iti mātsya-skānda-ādi-nirṇītyā — by the Matsya/Skanda ruling 'Rukmiṇī in Dvārakā, Rādhā in Vṛndāvana'; rukmiṇyā saha paṭhitā śaktitva-sādhāraṇyena eva — [Rādhā] listed with Rukmiṇī only on the common ground of being [his] potency; śāstra-dṛṣṭyā tu upadeśaḥ vāma-devavat iti nyāya-rītyā — by the maxim 'scripturally the teaching is Vāmadeva-like'; mahendreṇa parameśvaraḥ iva durgayā api — just as the Supreme Lord [is taught as one] with great Indra and with Durgā too; ahaṁ-graha-upāsanā-śāstra-dṛṣṭyā — from the identity-meditation scriptures; sva-abhedena upadiṣṭā — she is taught as non-different from him
So here is the resolution. The Matsya, Skanda, and other Purāṇas rule: 'Rukmiṇī in Dvārakā, but Rādhā in the Vṛndāvana forest.' When Rādhā is listed alongside Rukmiṇī, it is only on the shared ground that both are Kṛṣṇa's potency. And on the principle of the maxim 'scripturally the teaching is like that of Vāmadeva' — just as scripture teaches the Supreme Lord's oneness with great Indra, and with Durgā too — in the 'worship-as-oneself' scriptures Rādhā is taught as non-different from Kṛṣṇa himself. That is why she can be listed with the others yet be utterly distinct.
ahaṁgraha-upāsanā (home meaning): a Vedic mode of worship in which one meditates on the deity as identical with oneself. Here Jīva invokes it to explain how Rādhā is 'taught as non-different' from Kṛṣṇa — a teaching-device of identity, like the Vāmadeva and Indra cases the Vedānta-sūtra cites.

The verse declares: 'The goddess Rādhikā is said to be made wholly of Kṛṣṇa, the supreme deity. She comprises all the Lakṣmīs, she is all beauty, the supreme enchantress.' Rādhā contains every Lakṣmī within herself.
देवी राधिका कृष्णमयी कही गई हैं, पर-देवता हैं, समस्त लक्ष्मियों से युक्त, सम्पूर्ण कान्तिस्वरूपा और सर्वश्रेष्ठ सम्मोहिनी हैं।
Why cited: Cited (from the Bṛhad-gautamīya) to establish that Rādhikā is 'made of all the Lakṣmīs' — scriptural proof that she, not Rukmiṇī or the chest-borne Śrī, is the complete Śrī.
क्यों उद्धृत: यह श्लोक (बृहद्-गौतमीय से) इसलिए उद्धृत है कि राधिका 'सर्व-लक्ष्मी-मयी' हैं — यह शास्त्र-प्रमाण है कि वही, न रुक्मिणी न वक्षःस्थल-निवासिनी श्री, पूर्ण श्री हैं।

Why cited: Names the source (Bṛhad-gautamīya) of the preceding 'devī kṛṣṇamayī' verse, giving it scriptural weight for Rādhā's identity as the all-Lakṣmī.
क्यों उद्धृत: पूर्ववर्ती 'देवी कृष्णमयी' श्लोक का स्रोत (बृहद्-गौतमीय) बताता है, जिससे राधा के सर्व-लक्ष्मी रूप की पहचान को शास्त्रीय बल मिलता है।

जिससे प्रसन्न होकर गोविन्द हमें छोड़कर जिसे एकान्त में ले गए — इस प्रकार (गोपियाँ कहती हैं)।
Why cited: Completes the previous citation: Kṛṣṇa's leaving all others to take 'her' aside is the scriptural mark of the one supreme, distinct Śrī — Rādhā.
क्यों उद्धृत: पूर्व उद्धरण को पूर्ण करता है — कृष्ण का सबको छोड़कर 'उसे' एकान्त में ले जाना ही उस एक सर्वश्रेष्ठ, विलक्षण श्री — राधा — का शास्त्रीय चिह्न है।

tataḥ — इसलिए; vayam api ca kāmayāmahe — हम भी कामना करती हैं; iti arthaḥ — ऐसा अर्थ है
'And so we too desire it' — that is, we queens long for the same foot-touch that all of Vraja longs for. This closes the first way of reading the verse: foot-dust and foot-touch are two distinct things they crave.
इसलिए हम भी (उस चरण-स्पर्श की) कामना करती हैं — ऐसा अर्थ है।

yat vā — or alternatively; pāda-sparśam iti — [the phrase] 'foot-touch'; tat-rajasaḥ eva viśeṣaṇaṁ — is a qualifier of that foot-dust
yat vā — अथवा; tat-rajasaḥ eva viśeṣaṇaṁ — उस धूलि का ही विशेषण; pāda-sparśam iti — 'चरण-स्पर्श' है
Or else — a second reading, left standing beside the first — 'foot-touch' is not a separate object at all but a description of the foot-dust: 'the dust that has touched his feet.' On this reading the queens crave one thing, the feet-touched dust, not two.
अथवा, 'चरण-स्पर्श' उस धूलि का ही विशेषण है।
viśeṣaṇa vs. separate item: here 'pāda-sparśa' as a viśeṣaṇa is like calling something 'the sun-warmed stone' — the warming just describes the one stone; whereas the first reading treated 'foot-touch' as a second, separate stone. Jīva leaves both readings open.
विशेषण बनाम पृथक् वस्तु — यहाँ 'पाद-स्पर्श' को विशेषण मानना ऐसा है जैसे किसी को 'सूर्य से तपा हुआ पत्थर' कहना — तपन केवल उसी एक पत्थर का वर्णन करती है; जबकि पहला पाठ 'चरण-स्पर्श' को एक दूसरा, पृथक् पत्थर मानता था। जीव दोनों पाठ खुले छोड़ देते हैं।

On this second reading, foot-dust and foot-touch come to the same thing: the touch is the sure, inseparable outcome of the dust, so the two are really one. This still belongs to the suspended alternative — Jīva does not choose between the two readings; both stand.

How is Kṛṣṇa described in that verse? By the word 'mahātman,' 'great soul.' Jīva unpacks it: his self, his nature, is higher than the nature of every other being anywhere; his very nature is the shining-forth of beauty and all such glories. 'Great soul' thus points to Kṛṣṇa's supreme, beauty-radiant nature.

This supreme beauty is confirmed by Śuka's own words: 'there the Lord shone with surpassing splendor in the company of the gopīs.' The verse's 'great soul' language matches Śuka's testimony that Kṛṣṇa's beauty blazed among them.
'वहाँ भगवान् उन (गोपियों) के साथ अत्यन्त सुशोभित हुए' — इस श्री शुक के वचन के कारण।
Why cited: Cited to prove that Kṛṣṇa's nature is 'radiant with beauty' — Śuka's statement that he 'shone surpassingly with the gopīs' backs Jīva's gloss of 'mahātman.'

And the mūla's own phrase 'the form of Kṛṣṇa' is not just naming his body — it points, by way of indication, to that supreme beauty of his. Jīva ties his whole reading back to the root verse: 'Kṛṣṇa's form' signals Kṛṣṇa's beauty.
'कृष्ण-रूप' इस पद से भी वैसा उनका सौन्दर्य ही उपलक्षित (सूचित) किया गया है।
upalakṣaṇa (home meaning): pointing to a thing by a convenient mark rather than by its essence — 'the house with the crow on it,' where the crow only helps you locate the house. Here 'the form of Kṛṣṇa' works as such a pointer: it indicates his beauty (rather than merely denoting his physical shape), the way the crow flags the house.

The verb 'utkṛṣyate' hides a causative force, so it means 'is made to shine forth as superior.' Viśvanātha reads it exactly as Jīva did: rasa actively displays Kṛṣṇa's form as the highest.
'उत्कृष्यते' का अर्थ है — उत्कृष्ट रूप में प्रकाशित किया जाता है; क्योंकि इस क्रिया में प्रेरणार्थक (णिच्) का अर्थ भीतर ही समाया है।
ṇi (home meaning): the Sanskrit causative affix ('make/cause to'). Viśvanātha says it is 'inside' the passive verb, so 'is raised' = 'is caused to be shown as raised.'
णिच् (मूल अर्थ) — संस्कृत का प्रेरणार्थक प्रत्यय ('कराना/प्रवृत्त करना')। विश्वनाथ कहते हैं कि यह कर्मवाच्य क्रिया के 'भीतर' है, इसलिए 'उत्कृष्यते' (उठाया जाता है) = 'उत्कृष्ट रूप में दिखाया जाता है'।

Accordingly: among all the varieties of love-rasa, the very topmost peak of excellence is reached in the rasa that takes the form of mahā-bhāva, the highest ecstatic love. And the sole object, the sole support, of that supreme rasa is Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the son of the king of Vraja — no other avatāra, and not even the great Nārāyaṇa. mahā-bhāva (home meaning): in this tradition, the highest, most concentrated stage of prema. Viśvanātha names it as the peak-form of rasa whose only fit object is Vraja-Kṛṣṇa.

tatra eva uddhava-uktau — उसी में उद्धव के वचन में; na ayaṁ śriyaḥ aṅge — 'यह श्री के अंग पर भी नहीं'; u nitānta-rateḥ prasādaḥ — अत्यन्त अनुरागिणी का प्रसाद; iti — इस प्रकार
And in the same Tenth Canto, in Uddhava's words: 'the favor of Kṛṣṇa's most intimate love was not granted even to Śrī who rests on his chest.' Viśvanātha adds this to clinch that the gopīs' love outstrips even Lakṣmī's.
उसी (दशम स्कन्ध) में उद्धव के वचन में — 'यह प्रसाद, जो अत्यन्त अनुरागिणी गोपियों को मिलता है, श्री के अंग पर भी नहीं (मिलता)' — इस प्रकार।
Why cited: Cited to prove the gopīs' intimate love exceeds even chest-borne Lakṣmī's — a favor 'not given even to Śrī' — supporting Kṛṣṇa's rasa-supremacy in Vraja.
क्यों उद्धृत: यह इसलिए उद्धृत है कि गोपियों का घनिष्ठ प्रेम वक्षःस्थल-निवासिनी लक्ष्मी से भी बढ़कर है — 'श्री को भी न मिलने वाला' यह प्रसाद व्रज में कृष्ण की रस-श्रेष्ठता को पुष्ट करता है।

itiso [it runs]इस प्रकार
rūḍha-bhāvasya apara-paryāyaḥ mahā-bhāvaḥ'rūḍha-bhāva' is just another name for mahā-bhāva'रूढ-भाव' का दूसरा नाम ही 'महाभाव' है
mahā-bhāvasya pramāṇaṁ tatra eva daśame — the proof for mahā-bhāva, in that same Tenth Canto; kṛṣṇe kva ca eṣaḥ paramātmani rūḍha-bhāvaḥ iti — 'and whence this matured love toward Kṛṣṇa the Supreme Self'; rūḍha-bhāvasya apara-paryāyaḥ mahā-bhāvaḥ — 'rūḍha-bhāva' is another term for mahā-bhāva
mahā-bhāvasya pramāṇaṁ — महाभाव में प्रमाण; tatra eva daśame — उसी दशम स्कन्ध में; kṛṣṇe kva ca eṣaḥ paramātmani rūḍha-bhāvaḥ — 'परमात्मा कृष्ण में यह रूढ-भाव कहाँ?'; iti — इस प्रकार; rūḍha-bhāvasya apara-paryāyaḥ mahā-bhāvaḥ — रूढ-भाव का दूसरा नाम महाभाव
As proof that mahā-bhāva itself is scriptural, Viśvanātha cites the same Tenth Canto: 'and how did this rūḍha-bhāva — this fully matured love — arise toward Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Self?' And 'rūḍha-bhāva,' he notes, is simply another name for mahā-bhāva. So scripture does attest the highest love by name.
महाभाव में प्रमाण उसी दशम स्कन्ध में — 'परमात्मा कृष्ण में यह रूढ-भाव कहाँ (कैसे सम्भव)?' — इस प्रकार; और 'रूढ-भाव' का ही दूसरा नाम 'महाभाव' है।
Why cited: Cited to prove that mahā-bhāva (under its synonym rūḍha-bhāva) is scripturally attested toward Kṛṣṇa — grounding Viśvanātha's claim that the peak rasa belongs to Kṛṣṇa alone.
क्यों उद्धृत: यह इसलिए उद्धृत है कि महाभाव (अपने पर्याय रूढ-भाव के रूप में) कृष्ण के प्रति शास्त्र-सिद्ध है — इससे विश्वनाथ का यह मत दृढ़ होता है कि परम रस केवल कृष्ण में है।

evaṁ sati — this being so; sādhu uktaṁ — it was rightly said; rasena utkṛṣyate kṛṣṇa-rūpam iti bhāvaḥ — 'Kṛṣṇa's form is raised by rasa' — this is the sense
evaṁ sati — ऐसा होने पर; sādhu uktaṁ — भली-भाँति कहा गया है; rasena utkṛṣyate kṛṣṇa-rūpam — 'रस के द्वारा कृष्ण का रूप उत्कृष्ट किया जाता है'; iti bhāvaḥ — ऐसा भाव है
Since all this holds, Viśvanātha concludes, the author has rightly said, 'the form of Kṛṣṇa is lifted higher by rasa.' Everything — the queens' longing, Lakṣmī's penance, the scriptural word for mahā-bhāva — confirms the mūla's claim. This closes Viśvanātha's commentary.
ऐसा होने पर 'रस के द्वारा कृष्ण का रूप उत्कृष्ट किया जाता है' यह भली-भाँति कहा गया है — ऐसा भाव है।
