duravagamātma-tattva-nigamāya tavātta-tanoś
duravagama-ātma-tattva-nigamāyain order to make known the truth of yourself, which is so hard to grasp dative of purpose; ātma-tattva = the truth of the self/Godजिस आत्म-तत्त्व को जानना अत्यन्त कठिन है, उसका प्रतिपादन करने के लिए
tavaof you, O Lord genitiveआपके
ātta-tanoḥwho have taken on a body (a visible form) genitive, agreeing with tavaजिसने (लीला प्रकट करने को) शरीर धारण किया, ऐसे आपके
tava — of you; ātta-tanoḥ — who have taken on a body; duravagama-ātma-tattva-nigamāya — in order to make known the truth of yourself, which is hard to grasp
O Lord, your own truth is very hard to grasp. To make it known, you have taken on a body, a visible form. This first line describes you as the one who accepts a form for that purpose.
Why cited: The verse is quoted here to show that some rare souls, absorbed in the Lord's pastimes, do not even want liberation.
ātma-tattva: elsewhere 'the truth of the self' in a general sense; here it means the truth of God's own person — his form, qualities, and pastimes.

carita-mahā-amṛta-abdhi-parivarta-pariśramaṇāḥwhose weariness of worldly life is gone through plunging again and again into the vast nectar-ocean of your deeds bahuvrīhi describing 'kecid' in L3; parivarta = repeated turning/immersionआपके चरित्र-रूपी महान अमृत-समुद्र में बार-बार डुबकी लगाने से जिनका (सांसारिक) श्रम मिट गया है, ऐसे (कुछ लोग)
carita-mahā-amṛta-abdhi-parivarta-pariśramaṇāḥ — those whose exhaustion (of saṁsāra) is dispelled by diving over and over in the great nectar-ocean of your pastimes
Your pastimes are like a vast ocean of nectar. Some people plunge into that ocean again and again. By doing so, all their weariness from worldly life is washed away. This long word describes those people.
Why cited: Adduced to show that the joy of the Lord's pastimes surpasses even liberation for these rare devotees.

teyour genitive, going with 'feet' in L4आपके (चरणों के)
īśvara — O Lord; kecid — some rare few; te — your; apavargam api — even liberation; na parilaṣanti — do not long for
O Lord, there are some rare people who do not long even for liberation. Liberation is what most seekers want most of all. Yet these few do not even ask for that. The word 'even' makes the point sharp.
Why cited: The heart of the citation: rare devotees do not crave even mokṣa, the highest goal of other paths.
apavarga: in the philosophical schools the standard word for final release, mokṣa; here it is named only to be set aside as less than the sweetness of the Lord's pastimes.

caraṇa-saroja-haṁsa-kula-saṅga-visṛṣṭa-gṛhāḥ — those who have abandoned home by the association of the swan-flocks [devotees] at [your] lotus feet
Your feet are like lotuses. Swans gather at a lotus. Here the swans are the pure devotees who stay at your feet. By keeping their company, these rare people have left home behind. This word finishes the description of them.
Why cited: Completes the portrait: these are souls who, through the company of paramahaṁsa devotees, have renounced home and worldly life.
haṁsa (swan): in poetry the swan is the discerning bird that can separate milk from water; here it stands for the pure devotees (paramahaṁsas) who dwell at the Lord's lotus feet.

he īśvara — O Lord; duravagamaṁ ātmanaḥ svasya bhagavatas tattvaṁ — the hard-to-grasp truth of the Lord's own self; brahma-ānanda-ācchādaka-rūpa-guṇa-līlā-yāthārthyam — namely the true nature of his form, qualities and pastimes that eclipse the bliss of Brahman
Jīva first fixes the address: 'O Lord!' Then he explains what 'the hard-to-grasp truth of yourself' means. The word 'ātma' here means the Lord's own self. And 'his truth' means the real nature of his form, his qualities, and his pastimes. These are so full of sweetness that they outshine and even cover over the bliss of impersonal Brahman.
brahma-ānanda: the bliss of merging in formless Brahman, prized as the highest by the monist schools; here it is named only to say the Lord's personal sweetness eclipses it.

Now Jīva works through the rest of the line. 'To make it known' means to teach it, to reveal it. To do that, the Lord brings a beautiful divine form into the visible world; that is what 'having taken a body' means. Then he identifies the ocean: your pastimes themselves are the great ocean of nectar. 'Turning about' in that ocean means swimming in it by plunging again and again. By that swimming, these people throw off all the weariness of worldly life. 'Some' means the rare ones, seldom met. And they do not want even liberation.

Jīva asks: what are these rare people like? He answers by decoding the last word. The 'swans' at your lotus feet are the greatest devotees, the ones called paramahaṁsas of the Bhāgavata. The 'flocks' of swans are their lineages — the lines of disciples and disciples' disciples. By keeping company with these lineages, these people have given up home. And even the disciples, from the very beginning, follow the view of their paramahaṁsa masters.
paramahaṁsa: the highest grade of renunciant, 'supreme swan'; here it names the perfected devotees whose company leads one to leave home.

Jīva closes with the force of the point. Never mind the great swans themselves — of course their company frees a person. Even the company of just their flocks, their disciplic lines, is enough to make someone give up home. That is the meaning. He grants the lesser case to make the point stronger.

Viśvanātha opens exactly as Jīva does. 'O Lord!' Then: the hard-to-grasp 'truth of yourself' means the truth of the Lord's own self. And that truth is the real nature of your form, your qualities, and your pastimes — a sweetness that outshines and covers over the bliss of impersonal Brahman.
The wording tracks Jīva's almost word for word; Viśvanātha writes 'bhagavat-tattvaṁ' where Jīva has 'bhagavatas tattvaṁ' — the same sense, the Lord's own truth.

Viśvanātha decodes the same line, very close to Jīva. 'To make it known' means to reveal it. To do that the Lord brings a beautiful divine form into the visible world; that is 'having taken a body.' Viśvanātha asks: what are these people like? He answers by decoding the last word, as Jīva did. The 'swans' at your lotus feet are the Bhāgavata-paramahaṁsas, the greatest devotees. The 'flocks' are their lineages — the lines of disciples and disciples' disciples. By keeping company with them, these people have given up home. Unlike Jīva, Viśvanātha stops here; he does not add the closing 'never mind the swans themselves.'
paramahaṁsa: 'supreme swan,' the highest grade of renunciant; here the perfected devotees whose company leads one to leave home behind.
