kva nanda-kula-candramāḥ kva śikhi-candrakālaṅkṛtiḥ
kvawhere is he — kva sets off each item of the search; repeated seven times across the verseकहाँ है — (खोज की प्रत्येक कड़ी यहीं से आरम्भ होती है)
nanda-kula-candramāḥthe moon risen from Nanda's family?
kvawhere is he —कहाँ है
śikhi-candraka-alaṅkṛtiḥthe one adorned with the peacock's tail-feather? bahuvrīhi: he whose ornament (alaṅkṛti) is the peacock-crest (śikhi-candraka)जिसका आभूषण मोर की चन्द्रिका (मोर-पंख) है, वह — (बहुव्रीहि)
kva nanda-kula-candramāḥ — where is the moon of Nanda's family; kva śikhi-candraka-alaṅkṛtiḥ — where is he adorned with the peacock feather.
Where is he — the moon that rose from Nanda's family? Where is he — the one who wears the peacock-feather as his crown? Rādhā, parted from her beloved, hunts for him piece by piece: first his face, then his ornament.
An udāharaṇa of pralāpa — the raving, delirious lament of a lover in separation — quoted from Lalita-mādhava 3.25. Spoken by Rādhā when her beloved has gone away (proṣita-bhartṛkā, so Viśvanātha). The whole verse is a chain of seven 'kva' (where?) with no finite verb: she names Kṛṣṇa by one feature after another and asks where each has gone.

kva mandra-muralī-ravaḥ kva nu surendra-nīla-dyutiḥ
kvawhere is he —कहाँ है
mandra-muralī-ravaḥthe deep, low sound of the flute? mandra = deep/low-pitchedमुरली की वह गम्भीर (मन्द्र) मधुर ध्वनि
kva nuwhere, I wonder, is he — nu adds anxious wondering to the questionकहाँ है भला — ('नु' प्रश्न में व्याकुल विस्मय जोड़ता है)
surendra-nīla-dyutiḥthe sapphire-dark radiance? surendra-nīla = indranīla, the sapphire; his body glows like that gemइन्द्रनील मणि-सी वह देह-कान्ति (उसका शरीर उस नीलमणि की भाँति दमकता है)
kva mandra-muralī-ravaḥ — where is the deep flute-sound; kva nu surendra-nīla-dyutiḥ — where, I wonder, is the sapphire-blue glow.
Where is the low, deep sound of his flute? Where, oh where, is that sapphire-dark shine of his body? Now she gropes after his voice and his very complexion.

rāsa-rasa-tāṇḍavīthe one who dances gloriously in the joy of the rāsa? tāṇḍavī = master of the tāṇḍava dance; the -in suffix here carries praiseरास के रस में तांडव-नृत्य करने वाला (नृत्य का स्वामी — यहाँ '-इन्' प्रत्यय प्रशंसा जताता है)
kva sakhiwhere, O friend, is he —कहाँ है, हे सखी
jīva-rakṣā-auṣadhiḥthe herb that keeps me alive? auṣadhi = the life-saving medicinal herbप्राणों की रक्षा करने वाली वह औषधि (जीवन-रक्षक जड़ी-बूटी)
kva rāsa-rasa-tāṇḍavī — where is the dancer of rāsa-joy; kva sakhi jīva-rakṣā-auṣadhiḥ — where, O friend, is the life-saving herb.

Where is he who dances the wild tāṇḍava in the delight of the rāsa? Where, O friend, is the one herb that keeps me alive? She turns to her friend now, and the images turn desperate — he is her medicine, the only thing holding her to life.

Viśvanātha finishes the sentence the verse leaves hanging. The whole verse is only questions — 'where? where?' — with no answer. He supplies it: he who is your dear friend and my life's own medicine has now become nirūpa, formless — vanished, with no shape left to see.
