An udāharaṇa of the sādhāraṇa (common) type of pūrva-rāga defined in L1–L2. The verse is Bhāgavata 10.90.26. Per Viśvanātha (s1) these are the words of the Kuru-pura (Hastināpura) women who, seeing Kṛṣṇa, come to desire him and praise his queens; 'etāḥ' points to those queens (paṭṭa-mahiṣīs).

Jīva sets up why the verse fits here. For the Hastināpura women, actual union with Kṛṣṇa is out of the question. Even so, the verse illustrates the sādhāraṇa type by one aspect alone — ruci, bare attraction and longing, which they do have. On that single count it stands as an example.

Jīva glosses three words. 'These' are the chief queens. 'Womanhood' means just the female sex as a category. 'Make it good' means: because the queens belong to the very same class 'woman,' their glory purifies the whole class — womankind is sanctified by sharing a birth with them.

apāsta-peśalam iti — the phrase 'refinement cast off'; anya-sevā-paratvāt nirasta-dākṣyam iti arthaḥ — means 'devoid of skill,' because they are absorbed in serving another.
Jīva reads 'apāsta-peśala.' He takes peśala (refinement) as dākṣya, cleverness. Because a woman is wholly given to serving another — her lord — she sets aside her own cleverness. So 'refinement cast off' means 'skill given up.'

And 'purity cast off' Jīva explains by a well-known dictum — quoting the Bhāgavata — that the body is nothing but 'skin, whiskers, body-hair, nails, and locks bound together.' By that principle the female body counts as impure; so womanhood is 'void of purity.'
Why cited: Bhāgavata 10.60.45 is adduced to show the body is mere skin, whiskers, hair, nails, and locks — hence impure — so that 'womanhood with purity cast off' is warranted.
