unmīlat-kalahaṁsa-gadgada-ravā — जिसमें उठते हुए कलहंसों का गद्गद स्वर है; kampāti-vikṣobhataḥ — कम्प और प्रबल विक्षोभ के कारण।
This river sounds with the faltering cries of kalahaṁsa geese just come into view, and it is churned by great agitation. Read as love: the gopīs' voices break and stammer, and their whole being shakes with a trembling that stirs everything up. Every word of the verse runs on two tracks at once — a real river and the flood of the gopīs' love.
यह नदी उमड़ते कलहंसों की गद्गद ध्वनि से भरी है। कम्प और प्रबल विक्षोभ ने इसे मथ डाला है।
An udāharaṇa (example verse) for the flood of the gopīs' anurāga in the rāsa dance — the culminating love of prakaraṇa 14. The two included commentators read the peak differently and are not harmonized: Jīva (14.160) takes the verse to establish anurāga-bhāva and says its general definition too is to be read in; Viśvanātha takes anurāgitā to be mahābhāva itself. The whole verse is one sustained śleṣa: a literal river / the river of love.

He quotes the grammarians' rule listing the meanings in which suffixes of the matup class (which includes the -tā here) are used — chief among them bhūman, 'abundance.'
यह नियम कहता है कि भूमन् (बहुलता), निन्दा, प्रशंसा, नित्य-योग, अतिशय और संसर्ग की विवक्षा में 'मतुप्' आदि प्रत्यय लगते हैं।
Why cited: cited to establish that the -tā of anurāgitā is added in the sense of bhūman (abundance), so anurāgitā means not just 'anurāga' but its full flood
क्यों उद्धृत: यह नियम इसलिए उद्धृत है कि 'अनुरागिता' का '-ता' भूमन् (बहुलता) के अर्थ में लगा है — अतः 'अनुरागिता' केवल 'अनुराग' नहीं, अपितु उसकी पूरी बाढ़ को कहता है।

darśanād bhūmārthakena iti pratyayo nānurāga-bhūmatvaṁ mahābhāva eva |
darśanāt bhūma-arthakena iti pratyayaḥsince the rule shows it, the suffix here is one meaning abundance (bhūman) ablative — because the cited rule attests the bhūman sense(उक्त नियम के) दर्शन से यह '-ता' प्रत्यय भूमन्-अर्थक है
na anurāga-bhūmatvaṁso this is not [merely a large quantity] of anurāga na — ruling out the reading 'just a lot of anurāga'अतः यह केवल 'बहुत अनुराग होना' नहीं ('न' से यह पाठ अस्वीकृत)
mahābhāvaḥ eva[but] mahābhāva itself eva — precisely mahābhāvaअपितु महाभाव ही है ('एव' से ठीक महाभाव)
darśanāt bhūma-arthakena iti pratyayaḥ, na anurāga-bhūmatvaṁ [kevalaṁ], mahābhāvaḥ eva.
darśanāt bhūma-arthakena iti pratyayaḥ — इस नियम के दर्शन से '-ता' भूमन्-अर्थक; na anurāga-bhūmatvaṁ — केवल अनुराग की बहुलता नहीं; mahābhāvaḥ eva — महाभाव ही।
So, Viśvanātha concludes, the -tā carries the sense of abundance; and this fullness of anurāga is not just 'a great heap of anurāga' — it is mahābhāva itself. The word 'anurāgitā' is doing heavy technical work.
इस नियम के आधार पर 'अनुरागिता' का '-ता' भूमन् के अर्थ में है। अतः यह केवल 'बहुत अनुराग' नहीं, अपितु महाभाव ही है।
The exact force of 'na' here is read conservatively: the suffix in its bhūman sense pushes anurāgitā past mere quantity to name mahābhāva, the highest reach of the love. Viśvanātha is the included authority for this identification; it is not harmonized with Jīva, who stops at anurāga-bhāva.

Here Viśvanātha names the central pun: 'sarit' is a river, and 'rasa' is at once water (the river's) and śṛṅgāra-rasa, the very relish of love. By śleṣa the one verb 'spread out rasa' means both 'the river spread water' and 'the flood of love spread out its relish.'
'सरित्' का अर्थ नदी है। 'रस' के दो अर्थ हैं — जल और शृंगार आदि। श्लेष से इसमें आस्वाद भी आ जाता है। इस नदी ने रास में इस रस का विस्तार कर दिया।
