tataḥ ca vimṛśya — और तत्पश्चात् विचार करके; dhvānta-dhvaṁsa-kāraṇaṁ sva-mukha-kiraṇa-jālam eva jñātvā — अंधकार-नाश का कारण अपने मुख की किरणों का जाल ही है यह जानकर; sva-mukha-rucāṁ nirmātāraṁ vidhiṁ vidhātāram eva nindati — अपने मुख की कान्तियों के रचयिता उसी विधाता की निन्दा करती है; yadi vidhātā man-mukha-kāntīr īdṛśīr na asrakṣyat — 'यदि विधाता ने मेरे मुख की ऐसी कान्तियाँ न रची होतीं; tadā aham adhunā eva muralim acorayiṣyam — तो मैं अभी ही मुरली चुरा लेती'; iti mad-abhilaṣite saḥ eva vighna-karaḥ abhūt — मेरी अभिलाषा में वही विघ्नकर्ता हुआ; iti dik — इतना संकेत पर्याप्त है; taṁ vidhātāram iti bhāvaḥ — 'उस विधाता को' यह भाव है
Then she thinks it through: the darkness broke up only because of the net of rays streaming from her own face. So she blames the Creator — and him alone — who made her face so radiant: 'Had the Creator not fashioned my face this beautiful, I would have carried off the flute this very moment. In the one thing I wanted, he became the spoiler.' That is the drift; 'it is that Creator she reproaches' is the inner sense.
