adhīrā ("not steady, unable to restrain herself") is one of three types Rūpa sorts the heroine into by how she reacts to the beloved's offense: the dhīrā holds it in and rebukes only with veiled, sarcastic words; the dhīrādhīrā mixes the two; the adhīrā here shows it openly — harsh words and even blows. The verse names only the outermost of these signs; the tears and heat behind them are assumed.
