The whole verse is a sustained śleṣa: a scene of trapping a black deer that doubles, word for word, as a lover's snaring of Kṛṣṇa. Each 'hunting' detail below is also a charm for winning him.

This is where the śleṣa lands: kṛṣṇa-hariṇa is literally the black antelope (kṛṣṇasāra) and, by pun, Kṛṣṇa; baddhuṁ is both to rope the deer and to bind Kṛṣṇa as her lover.

baddhuṁ bandhena vaśīkartuṁ kṛṣṇa-pakṣe bandheneva vaśīkartum ||
bandhena vaśīkartuṁto bring under control with a tie, a snare (bandha — a binding rope)बन्धन (रस्सी) से वश में करने के लिए
kṛṣṇa-pakṣein the Kṛṣṇa-side of the pun (pakṣa — the alternate reading)कृष्ण-पक्ष में (श्लेष का दूसरा अर्थ)
bandhena iva vaśīkartumto bring [him] under her sway as if by a bondमानो बन्धन से (प्रेम-बन्धन से) वश में करने के लिए
baddhuṁ — 'to bind'; bandhena vaśīkartuṁ — [means] to subdue with a snare; kṛṣṇa-pakṣe — in the Kṛṣṇa-reading; bandhena iva vaśīkartum — to subdue [him] as though by a bond.
Jīva takes just the one word 'baddhuṁ,' to bind. In the deer-reading it means to subdue the animal with an actual snare. In the Kṛṣṇa-reading it means to bring Kṛṣṇa under her sway as if binding him — captivating him, not roping him. The single word carries both at once.
Jīva's whole comment is the śleṣa hinge — literal binding versus the binding of a lover's heart.

Śyāmalā is a vāsaka-sajjā — a heroine adorned and ready in her bower, waiting for her lover. As she moves toward the tryst she catches sight of Kṛṣṇa close by. Her friend Bakula-mālā, teasing her under her breath, speaks the verse. Read the key words two ways: 'kṛṣṇa-hariṇa' is the black antelope (kṛṣṇasāra) and also Kṛṣṇa himself; 'baddhuṁ,' to tie up, also means to make him her beloved.

Now the hunting-allegory, spelled out. Viśvanātha names four charms and says: read these as the deer-catching gear. The bristling body-hairs he explicitly calls 'bait-shaped' (cāra-rūpa) — the grain a hunter scatters to lure the animal. Alongside these: the arched brows work as the hunter's bent bow, the face veiled behind the smile as his concealment, and the vīṇā's twang as the music used to draw and calm a deer. The allegory works detail-for-detail; it is a device for reading her charms as a hunt.
cāra-rūpa — 'in the form of the scattered grain-bait': the roma-aṅkura (bristling hairs) map onto the yava-taṇḍula (barley and rice) a hunter strews to lure the deer.

And so Kṛṣṇa turns it back on her: 'Then that treasure will end up sitting in your purse-knot too!' — he insists the love-wealth is right there with her.

bhavatu — all right; svayam eva nīvī-granthim udghāṭya — untying your skirt-knot myself; paśyāmi asti na asti vā iti — 'let me see if it's there or not'; śrī-kṛṣṇena tathā upakramaḥ kṛtaḥ iti jñeyam — thus Kṛṣṇa made his overture, it should be understood.

He presses the joke to its point: 'Fine — let me open your skirt-knot myself and see whether the treasure is there or not!' And with that, the commentator adds, Kṛṣṇa made his amorous move. The purse-knot pun (granthi) turns into the nīvī-knot of her garment, and the tease becomes the embrace.
