avitatham asi bālaḥ kāla-rūpaṁ vibhindan
avitathamtruly — and this is no lieसचमुच, यथार्थ में (मिथ्या नहीं) — व्यंग्य के साथ कहा गया
asiyou areतू है
kāla-rūpaṁthe one that was Death itself in bodily form acc.; describes the elephant-lord named in L2काल (मृत्यु) के समान भयंकर रूप वाले उस (गजराज) को
vibhindaneven as you rip it wide open pres. participle, nom.
(tvam) — you; avitatham asi bālaḥ — are, truly, a boy; kāla-rūpaṁ vibhindan — [you] who rip apart the one that was Death in bodily form (→ the elephant-lord of L2)…
'You really are a boy — truly.' But look what this 'boy' does: he rips wide open the elephant that was Death itself, taken bodily form. The word bālaḥ, 'boy,' is picked up from the previous verse (8.160), where his side had been called mere 'boys'; thrown back here it turns double-edged.
This verse (253q2) is the second illustration of saṁlāpa, the deep, double-edged mutual speech (a sandhy-aṅga) defined at 8.159 (253) as an exchange laced with bhāvas like jealousy and anger and with rasas like the heroic (vīra) and the marvelous (adbhuta). It continues the challenge-speech begun in the verse at 8.160. Hear the running play on bāla: bālaḥ 'boy' (here), bāla-vikrīḍayā 'child's play' (L2), and bāla-rājiḥ 'line of boys' (L4).

dvirada-patimthe lord of elephants acc.; the object of vibhindan in L1गजराज को, हाथियों के स्वामी (कुवलयापीड़) को
bāla-vikrīḍayā evaand by nothing more than a child's game instr. of means; eva = 'merely, nothing more'केवल बाल-क्रीड़ा से ही, बच्चों के खेल-भर से — 'एव' का अर्थ 'बस इतने-से ही, और कुछ नहीं'
dvirada-patim udagraṁ — the towering lord of elephants; bāla-vikrīḍayā eva — by mere child's play [you rend it].
And the elephant is no small thing — a towering, fierce bull, the very lord of his kind. Yet he tears it open as if it were a child's game, nothing more. That is the marvel (adbhuta) the deep speech keeps pointing at.

And here — everyone can see it — just as the wrestling is about to begin, there is this crowd, up on its feet with excitement. One word, uccaleyaṁ, packs in two: uccalā, 'astir,' and iyaṁ, 'this.'

bāla-rājiḥ — the line of boys; tava tanu-kṛta-sakhyā — who have struck up friendship with you; bhuja-yuddha-prastuteḥ sākṣiṇī — is the witness to the opening of the arm-combat.
And that crowd is a line of boys — your own friends, who have thrown in their lot with you. They stand as the witness to the start of this fight. The barb lands right here: your only backers are a row of boys. So the whole speech is challenge and marvel at once — exactly the double edge that makes it saṁlāpa.

The second illustration (udāharaṇa) of saṁlāpa — the deep, double-edged mutual speech, a sandhy-aṅga defined at 8.159 — laced with vīra and adbhuta rasa; it continues the challenge begun at 8.160, its barb turning on the running play with bāla ('boy').
