yatra — in the case where; prastāvanā eva — by the mere broaching of a matter; anuktaḥ api — even though left unspoken; śeṣa-arthaḥ — the rest of the meaning; buddhyate — is grasped.
Here the lakṣaṇa of anukta-siddhi is given. Sometimes just broaching a point is enough. The rest of what is meant is never spoken outright — yet the audience takes it in all the same, purely from the way the matter was set up.
This is the defining kārikā of anukta-siddhi, 'the establishing of the unstated' — the dramaturgical device taken up next after manoratha (the item just illustrated in verse 71). prastāvanā here is not a play's formal prologue but the bare broaching or setting-up of a point; eva stresses that this hint alone does the work, with the remainder left for the audience to supply.

eṣā — this; anukta-siddhiḥ syāt — is to be called anukta-siddhi; iti — so; bharataḥ muniḥ — the sage Bharata; āha — declared.
Such a case, then, is what should be named anukta-siddhi. And this is no coinage of Rūpa's own — the sage Bharata himself laid the rule down. So the definition rests on the authority of the Nāṭyaśāstra.
The verse is quoted (origin: quoted): Rūpa does not frame anukta-siddhi in his own words but cites its lakṣaṇa from Bharata Muni, the root authority on nāṭya. 'ity āha bharato muniḥ' — 'so said the sage Bharata' — carries that attribution within the verse itself.
yatra prastāvanā eva anuktaḥ api śeṣa-arthaḥ buddhyate, eṣā anukta-siddhiḥ syāt iti bharataḥ muniḥ āha.
yatra केवल prastāvanā eva (के द्वारा) anuktaḥ api śeṣa-arthaḥ buddhyate, eṣā anukta-siddhiḥ syāt — iti bharataḥ muniḥ āha।
Where, from the mere broaching of a matter, the rest of the meaning is grasped even though it is never spoken outright — this is what should be called anukta-siddhi, 'the establishing of the unstated': so declared the sage Bharata.
The defining kārikā (lakṣaṇa) of anukta-siddhi, the dramaturgical device taken up next after manoratha; Rūpa quotes the definition from Bharata Muni's Nāṭyaśāstra rather than framing it in his own words.
