sahacari harir eṣa brahma-veśaṁ prapannaḥ
sahacariO my dear friend (she turns to Lalitā) vocative feminine — the companion at her sideहे सखी (पास खड़ी सहचरी को सम्बोधन)
harir eṣathis one right here is Hari (Kṛṣṇa) himself eṣa, 'this one before us', points at the disguised figure she is watchingयह हरि — सामने जिसे वह देख रही है, वही कृष्ण
brahma-veśaṁ prapannaḥwho has only taken on the guise of a brahmacārī prapannaḥ, 'has resorted to', governs brahma-veśam — the celibate student's dress is put on, not realब्रह्मचारी का वेश धारण किए हुए है (वेश ओढ़ा हुआ, वास्तविक नहीं)
sahacari — O my friend; harir eṣa — this one here is Hari; brahma-veśaṁ prapannaḥ — who has taken on a brahmacārī's guise.
O my friend — this is Hari himself. He has simply put on a brahmacārī's robes to disguise himself. I know him under the costume.
The second udāharaṇa (57q2) of vidhāna, defined in kārikā 57 (v013): sukha-duḥkha-kara — 'that which produces both joy and sorrow.' In the scene (Act 2) Kṛṣṇa has assumed a brahmacārī's guise; Rādhā, looking again (punar nibhālya), recognizes him and speaks to her friend Lalitā. Her recognition brings the joy of his nearness together with the pain of her own melting, agitated heart — the mingled pleasure-and-pain that is vidhāna.

kim ayam itarathā me vidravaty antarātmā |
kimfor why else — opens a proof by elimination: on what other account could this be happening?
ayamthis masculine, agreeing with antarātmā at the line's end — 'this inmost self'यह — पंक्ति के अन्त में आए अन्तरात्मा से मेल खाता, 'यह अन्तरतम आत्मा'
itarathāotherwise — were he not truly Kṛṣṇa itarathā, 'in the other case', i.e. if this were an ordinary brahmacārīअन्यथा — अर्थात् यदि यह साधारण ब्रह्मचारी होता
me vidravaty antarātmāwould this inmost heart of mine be dissolving so vi-√dru, 'flow apart, melt'; me is genitive with antarātmā — the inner self runs to waterमेरा अन्तरात्मा पिघलकर बह क्यों जाता — me अन्तरात्मा का सम्बन्ध (मेरा), वि-√द्रु 'पिघलना, बह जाना'
kim itarathā — for why otherwise; ayam me antarātmā vidravati — would this inmost self of mine be melting away.
How else do you explain it? If he were really some celibate student, my inmost heart would not be dissolving like this. The very melting of my heart is the proof — nothing but Kṛṣṇa could move me so.
The mixed emotion that makes this an instance of vidhāna: the same recognition that gladdens her also throws her heart into turmoil (vidravati) — joy and pain at once.

śaśadhara-maṇi-vedī — an altar of moonstone; sveda-dhārāṁ prasūte — gives forth a stream of moisture.
Now think of a moonstone. An altar cut from moonstone streams with moisture — the gem visibly 'sweats,' oozing water from its surface.
Moonstone (candrakānta) is fabled to exude water when moonlight touches it. Rādhā offers this as a corroborating natural fact; the completing condition — and the analogy — come in the next line.

na kila kumuda-bandhoḥ kaumudīm antareṇa
na kilasurely never does so kila, 'as everyone knows', appeals to a familiar law of natureनिश्चय ही नहीं — kila 'जैसा सब जानते हैं', प्रकृति के एक जाने-माने नियम की ओर संकेत
kumuda-bandhoḥof the moon — the 'friend of the night-lotus' (kumuda), which opens at moonrise genitive going with kaumudīm — the moonlight that belongs to the moonकुमुदबन्धु (चन्द्रमा) की — kaumudīm के साथ सम्बन्ध, चन्द्रमा से जुड़ी वह चाँदनी

kumuda-bandhoḥ kaumudīm antareṇa — apart from the moonlight of the moon; na kila [sveda-dhārāṁ prasūte] — surely it never gives off that stream.
But the moonstone never does this on its own. It oozes only when the moon's light falls on it, and never without that light. So it is with me: my heart melts only in Kṛṣṇa's presence. As the moonstone answers only to the moon, my inmost self answers only to him — which is why I know this brahmacārī is Hari.
The analogy completed: the moonstone stands for Rādhā's body and heart, the moonlight for Kṛṣṇa's presence. The maxim proves her claim — a specific effect points back to its one cause; her melting names Kṛṣṇa as surely as the gem's moisture names the moon. It stops at the recognition and does not press the comparison further.

My dear friend, this one here is Hari himself — he has merely put on a brahmacārī's dress. For why else would this inmost heart of mine be melting away? Were he anyone but Kṛṣṇa, it could not. Think of the moonstone: an altar cut of moonstone streams with moisture only when the moon's light touches it, and — everyone knows — it never gives off that stream apart from the moonlight of the moon, the friend of the night-lotus. Just so, my heart dissolves only in his presence; and by that melting I know this brahmacārī is none but Hari.

The second udāharaṇa (57q2) of vidhāna — the sukha-duḥkha-kara defined in kārikā 57 (v013): Rādhā's recognition of the disguised Kṛṣṇa at once gladdens her and throws her heart into turmoil, joy and pain together, the moonstone-and-moonlight analogy proving that only he could move her so.
