naṭatā kirāta-rājam ity upadeśenaby the hint, the veiled instruction "naṭatā kirāta-rājam..." — the riddling verse just quoted instrumental of means; iti quotes the opening words of 26q1नट के द्वारा 'किरात-राजम्' इन आरम्भिक शब्दों के उपदेश से

(nepathye) — from offstage; hanta — ah!; ko’yaṁ dhanyaḥ — who is this blessed one; [yaḥ] rādhā-mādhavayoḥ pāṇibandham — [who,] the hand-union of Rādhā and Mādhava; kaṁsa-bhūpater bhayāt — out of fear of King Kaṁsa; abhivyaktam udāhartum asamarthaḥ — being unable to proclaim it openly; naṭatā kirāta-rājam ity upadeśena bodhayan — conveys it by the hint "naṭatā kirāta-rājam..."; cintā-viklavāṁ mām — me, distraught with worry; āśvāsayati — consoles; iti — so [she speaks offstage]; tatra paurṇamāsī-praveśaḥ — thereupon Paurṇamāsī enters.
From offstage a voice cries out: "Ah! Who is this blessed person? For fear of King Kaṁsa he cannot announce the marriage of Rādhā and Mādhava out in the open — so he gets it across through the hint 'naṭatā kirāta-rājam...,' and with that he consoles me in my worry." Then Paurṇamāsī walks on.
The prose tail of the udāharaṇa of udghātyaka (kārikā 26, nc.4.22), from Lalita-mādhava 1.11: the riddling verse of 26q1 is the "words unclear in meaning" (agatārtha padāni), and here the offstage voice supplies the other words that unlock them — the hidden union of Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa, unspeakable in the open for fear of Kaṁsa. This is the udghātyaka device caught in the act: a hint dropped in a veiled verse, then decoded by the listener. Paurṇamāsī, the one consoled, then makes her entrance.
(nepathye) — hanta, ko’yaṁ dhanyaḥ [yaḥ] rādhā-mādhavayoḥ pāṇibandham kaṁsa-bhūpater bhayāt abhivyaktam udāhartum asamarthaḥ [san] naṭatā kirāta-rājam ity upadeśena bodhayan cintā-viklavāṁ mām āśvāsayati iti; tatra paurṇamāsī-praveśaḥ.
(From offstage:) "Ah! Who is this blessed man? Unable, for fear of King Kaṁsa, to proclaim openly the joining of hands — the union — of Rādhā and Mādhava, he yet gets it across through the actor's veiled hint, the words 'naṭatā kirāta-rājam…,' and so consoles me in my distress of worry." — Thereupon Paurṇamāsī enters.
The prose tail of the udāharaṇa of udghātyaka (kārikā 26), from Lalita-mādhava 1.11: an offstage voice supplies the words that unlock the riddling verse of 26q1, illustrating the device by which a veiled hint is decoded — then Paurṇamāsī makes her entrance.
