A voice answers from offstage, still unseen: "Ah, sir! You speak the truth — 'who can know the heart of those whose conduct is beyond the ordinary world?'" The entering speaker catches up the sūtradhāra's own closing words — lokottara-caritānāṁ hṛdayaṁ ko jñātum īśati — and carries them straight into his own entrance. That pick-up of the interlude speech is exactly what makes the opening a kathodghāta.
(नेपथ्य में) हा! अरे! तुमने ठीक ही कहा — जिनका चरित्र लोकोत्तर है, उन महापुरुषों के हृदय को भला कौन जान सकता है! — ऐसा स्वर परदे के पीछे से सुनाई पड़ता है।
This continues the udāharaṇa of kathodghāta, the play-opening device just defined in kārikā 23 (nc.4.14): the character who enters takes up the very words (or the sense) of the sūtradhāra's speech and folds them into his own plot, so the story 'opens out of' that speech (kathā-udghāta). Here 23q1 (nc.4.15) gives the sūtradhāra's verse; this line is the offstage voice repeating its closing pāda 'lokottara-caritānāṁ hṛdayaṁ ko jñātum īśati' verbatim — the pick-up that demonstrates the definition.

From offstage, a still-unseen voice answers: "Ah, sir! You have spoken the truth — who has the power to know the heart of those whose conduct lies beyond the ordinary world?" — catching up the sūtradhāra's very closing words and carrying them into his own entrance.
(नेपथ्य में) हा! अरे! तुमने ठीक ही कहा — जिनका चरित्र लोकोत्तर है, उन महापुरुषों के हृदय की बात को भला कौन जान सकता है! — ऐसा स्वर परदे के पीछे से सुनाई पड़ता है।
Continuation of the udāharaṇa of kathodghāta (kārikā 23): the entering offstage speaker repeats the sūtradhāra's closing pāda 'lokottara-caritānāṁ hṛdayaṁ ko jñātum īśati' verbatim, and that pick-up of the interlude speech is what demonstrates the play-opening device.
